I came to stay at Aqua Roma for four days while in Slovenia for the wedding of a good friend. The rooms are simple yet comfortable and incredibly clean and well thought out.
I love having plenty of closet space to hang my garments, and a mudroom style bench with place to neatly put away shoes. My room came with a spacious balcony with an excellent view of the hills and overlooking the geothermal pool. I especially appreciate the fact that the windows can be opened after staying in more than a few hotels this euro trip without the ability to naturally regulate the temperature.
If you’re here in Fall or winter the water park is not in service, but to walk up the hill to Rimske Thermal is only about 10 min and staying here is highly advised not only because of the price savings, but also because of the phenomenal food. I highly recommend this strategy to anyone reading this post. :)
Let me just say the food in the restaurant here is absolutely incredible. You won’t find a Michelin star rating, but they have almost everything you can possibly want in the kitchen with an excellent selection of desserts and alcohols as well. The staff is incredibly kind and they all speak English well.
I’ve had 3 different pizza during my stay here as well as a range of Pasta’s and meat dishes. The prices are incredibly reasonable and if you have left overs (the portions are HUGE). You can get a Togo box to put something away in your room for a late night snack. They only serve high quality coffee (Julius Minel) and espressos in-line with what one would expect in Europe.
10/10 would recommend aqua roma, I...
Read moreEvery time we travel to Montenegro by car we stop over in Slovenia and this is where we stay. It lays almost exactly at the halfway point for us.
The hotel is ok. Nothing fancy but affordable, clean and the beds are comfortable. A small breakfast is also included in the price served from 07:00 till 10:00
The pool is included in the price of the hotel. Again nothing fancy but a great way to relax after an eight hour drive. There is a separate pool for children and a slide for the kids. It’s an outside pool and is heated.
I have yet to try the hotel dining. We usually have dinner at the outside cafe. I’m sure it is run by the hotel but serves more cafe style dishes. The Pizzas are huge and there is a large selection. The Calamari are good as well.
The highlight for us after our long drive is always the Pole Pole (sp?) which is half normal Beer and half dark Beer. It is great! Just be careful if you are continuing your journey the next day! These beers sneak up on you!
All in all I’d highly...
Read moreWe had a night in the hotel, hoping to relax and maybe swim a little or something like that. But to our disapointment, we could not. The outside pool was half empty and with green water in it (dont know when it was cleaned last time). We booked a room with bathtub, but they put us in a room with shower. We complained and got transfered to the type of room we booked (the hotel was more than half empty). The railway is 100 meters from the hotel. It is cargo railway so loud, long and heavy compositions pass every 15-20 mins. Yoi cant believe how loud that trains are at night. Forget sleeping with open windows!|Room was not clean as it was suposed to. The front reception isn't working so we suggest that you call them a few minutes before arrival because it is a bit hard to find the second entrance (it looks like a back door for staff practicaly). Overall, if you can stay anywhere...
