From the front side, this hotel looks classic and nice ; from the back side, it looks cheap and from another era. The rooms are OK : it is too hot everywhere in the hotel, but the individual rooms are clean and rather well furnished. Beds are narrow and very soft, but some people may like that. The corridors are dirty and hot. Windows and doors are in a bad shape and need refurbishment. The hotel does not provide enough parking space, so that you have to park at places where your car may be hit by passing traffic. The girls at the reception are too young to have lived communist times, but they do have the attitude that made human interaction in horeca so difficult at those times : total disinterest. Breakfast (industrial quality) is to be taken in a refectory that has no soul, no atmosphere, no staff ... And the hotel is expensive, as there is hardly any type of competition in and around Slovenj Gradec, so they think they can virtually do what they want. This may also be the reason why they tried to invoice me about 10% more than what had been agreed in writing (by e-mail). It was a true honour to have this boutique hotel take care of our needs in Slovenia. I chose this location for my 50th birthday, and wanted to share a traditional North American Thanksgiving Dinner with my friends from abroad and with my Slovenian Family and Friends - there were nearly 100 of us in total. The hotel staff were AMAZING they went over and above the call of duty. The location was super for our Epic European Trip. Being centrally located in the heart of Slovenj Gradec, we were able to enjoy shopping, and beautiful nature hiking trails. Staff in the restaurant is impolite, especially if you are a young student. When I ate there I got a feeling that staff didn’t care how I feel in the restaurant, they seem unprofessional plus they served me something different than I ordered. In addition to this, food is not so good, there are 2 different soups everyday and the vegetable soup is quite oily so the variety of offer and the taste of dishes is really nothing extra. The main dish is almost always tasteless or just simply not as good as you would expect.
