Checked in to Golden Valley Lodge in Worcester. First morning cut underside of foot open on patio sliding door floor rail which caused a fall down the stair.. Now bruised with a broken bone and have been admitted to hospital. No process to deal with injuries. First aid box was unsanitary with used gloves being placed back in packets and gloves found loose in box being worn. Managers removed our incident report copy in our possession, then refused to return it. The incident copy they had given us was not the one we wrote but a new revised one which was a work of fiction. They admitted to throwing ours away. I see you can't comment or review on there website 🤔 but we'll done Sun International. 0 out of 5(but it only allows a rating of one star and up)

Got treated by my mother in law to stay for two night.

On arrival the room we checked into reaked of smoke and this was the room my son of 1.5yrs, my partner and I were staying in which was unacceptable. For us to then go enquirer about this and they couldn’t assist by swopping the one double bed over into the Smokey room and putting us in the other room.

Second: we wanted to warm a meal up for our son and was told kitchen is closed, and then a few hours later to be actually told oh sorry they don’t have a microwave when we could have just been told that from the beginning.

Third: our smokey rooms curtains I had to hold closed with my hair clip as they were half falling off the rails.

Fourth: for the life of us we couldn’t get hold of room service for us to order in, eventually after 15 minutes of not getting through I went down to reception to ask what’s going on, and the one lady said she would post on their group for them to contact our room number, needless to say another 20 minutes go by again and still no call to which I eventually go order the food myself at the casino side(annoyed),

I ordered two toasted cheese and ham and I waited close to 1hr it’s actually beyond me how appealing this stay and service has been. It’s almost like a don’t care nonchalant attitude towards things here from the staff.

Fifth: In the other room my son and his aunty were in the bathroom and low and be hold the entire shower rail falls off out of the wall, thank goodness it didn’t land on him as that could have caused some serious damage.

Sixth: a simple hair dryer oh how we struggled to get one both nights, we called way in advance so that when my son was out the bath it would be used and then one arrives and we told oh we had to fix this one for you to use…. As the first night the hairdryer arrived and then the staff came to get it because they wanted to borrow it obviously for another guest and it was never brought back.

Seventh: go down for breakfast and was not going to pay that ridiculous price for the buffet, so ask the staff about what other breakfasts they offer, was that a challenge on its own. They mentioned they do two breakfasts so we ask what does it come with and they shouldn’t tell us as a matter of fact the other staff also couldn’t tell us, to which we left and went across the road to the mall to eat. The staff serving breakfast should know this stuff or the training needs to be upped or done properly as you are serving guests.

I won’t be back….

Then when most of this was mentioned to the man responsible for the rooms he said “oh we are renovating but doing one room at a time” well maybe this should be known to your guest by way of signage or when checking in.

Definitely needs a make over soon and please get a new place where you wash your bathroom towels as they stink so we replaced them and the next...

So I've been staying her once a year for the past three years. Its a lovely hotel and a great location. I stayed for 2 nights.

The sound proof rooms are helpful for those noisy intoxicated guests who retire to their rooms in the middle of the night however I feel more staff can monitor this as the corridors are not sound proof.

Sadly the welcome home sign at the entrance and the experience of my stay did not make me feel welcome or at home. The service was delivered but underwhelming. Front office staff although efficient were cold. At check in I was given a room I did not like and asked to move which was honored. I had problems accessing my room as my key-card was not opening the door and the receptionist came to assist me with getting into my room. I was served by 4 front office staff not one smiled or welcomed me. This was disappointing. The rest of the staff, restaurant and housekeeping was pleasant and helpful. Helping me with my luggage even when not asking.

The rooms generally could be upgraded. Bathrooms could do with fixing the showers, shower head and taps are outdated and grouting in the corners are black. Bath could also be redone. Bedroom is a nice size and love that the windows open. TVs are not programmed properly, and although lovely and big, disappointing no decent bouquet program available.

No room service advertised in the rooms No phone directory to access the hotel reception or staff. No refrigeration or water to drink available in the rooms. Tap water is brown. Room was clean which was awesome! Housekeeping and Reception worked well together when I requested to have my beverage pack restored as I didnt want my room cleaned during the day. When asking reception about water availability I was told the kitchen is closed I can only get water from their vending machines, However on checkout I asked reception if the kitchen could refill my flask with water for my trip back to Cape Town, the receptionist just gave me a bottle from the case in the back office. Extremely grateful, however I was let down by the fact that I was told to use the vending machine the night before. Rules and regulations in the room gives a sense that this hotel has had it with guests. Prepay everything, no food and alcohol, if found will be confiscated ...

Generally my stay was ok... Its been better on previous visits. It could have been great if the welcome sign should match the delivery from the front office team. Coming from the hotel industry myself I am abit more aware than the average guest of standards, however I feel this is the kind of feedback needed to change an ok accommodation to great.

My boyfriend and I went to Golden Valley for Valentines Day. When we booked it gave us an option to check in at our preferred time. When we got there, we were told you can only book in at this specific time which made us have about 3 hours to wait. We went to go grab food at the one "pub type" restaurant as it was the only one open. The food was not great and service was so slow. We then went back to reception to see if there was anything they could do to help us (as this was also valentines day). We were then told by one of the people in the front that we should go across the road to the mall while we wait. Basically there was just no accommodating, nothing to help us out. I then was luckily able to book a massage that was a complete waste of money. We then eventually get a room. My boyfriend calls rooms service to order a bottle of wine his exact words were "can we please get a bottle of wine and two glasses". It took about 30min for the wine to eventually get to our room. The lady had no wine glasses and said "we should have asked" - which we did. In my opinion we shouldn't have even needed to ask? She then said "well now I have to walk back to the casino to fetch only two glasses". I was completely speechless after that. We then called reception to ask for a double adaptor so that we could charge our phones the response was "we don't have one". No one tried to make a plan for us or even just be more accommodating about it. In the mix of all of this happening the staff between the lodge and the casino were not friendly or helpful at all. Due to there being no other restaurant available we went back to the same place to get dinner and some drinks. I have never waited so long for a glass of wine to be poured. There was no "ill be with you now" or "sorry for the wait" absolutely nothing. When we got our dinner it was below average. The next morning my boyfriend and I went for breakfast we couldn't even finish it. I am so disappointed in my experience and I will never go back. There was no nice Valentines day things happening, the staff are not accommodating at all and didn't make me feel welcomed as I also felt I was getting constant stares. There was even a point where my boyfriend and I were getting our Casino cards and when he was giving the lady his information she just rolled her eyes at him and made its seem like it was such a mission.
