Boskloof Swemgat — Hotel in Cederberg Local Municipality

Our return to Clanwilliam was long overdue. Boskloof Road is very easy to find and the gravel surface relatively smooth for about 8km.|A lovely greeting from the fabled Gretha and we were across the road and into Cottage 6 Kliphuis. Completely separate and adjacent to another cottage for couples, both along the stream. The other family cottages are 100m or more distant. It is well equipped and the air conditioning and open fireplaces would cope with various temperatures. The bed is fairly small, perfectly adequate for 2 persons of smaller size - 60/65kg. Lots of little extras, such as tea/coffee/washing up liquid/milk which is often very useful. Loved the stoop and the visiting birds: most of all I enjoyed the pool, cool and clean and adequate for a bit of a swim. (We noticed that 2 families had come for a long weekend - regular customers - couples, both with 2 small children who obviously shared my feelings!). Our only reservation? We’re walkers and would have appreciated the opportunity to wander around the valley. However, there are several places within a short drive that we may use in future. I tried making a booking via Airbnb and couldn't. So I called to make a booking for 1 x night.Arrived there and there was no booking.Luckily they had an open unit... A couple of other issues experienced and was brought under Gretha 's attention:

No WiFi in my unit ( Owen).Had to stand next to another unit to get wifi (not acceptable) Wooden bench outside not safe to sit on No salt and coffee( only lots of tea) Shower head is loose Toilet door handle loose

If nobody is available before 09h00 am on a Sunday,then guests should be informed.

If you only accepts cash,next guests should be informed beforehand.

This accomodation is lovely ,peaceful and quiet next to the river,but attention should be paid towards the details....

Boskloof Swemgat is beautiful and peaceful. We stayed in Kliphuis which has a jacuzzi out on the porch. The river is a few meters away and the water is wonderfully refreshing. The house had everything we needed and more. The aircon in the bedroom was a bonus! It is very private and perfect for a romantic getaway (we got engaged here!). Everything was clean and neat and the people who work there are very friendly and helpful. They also sell wood, charcoal, matches, snacks and more at reception. Please note that there is a gravel road, about 3 km long, leading up to the location and we saw two tortoises crossing the road, so be careful when driving. We will definitely return to...
