We went with a bunch of motorbike biker friends to the lodge for the weekend. I knew we were in a good place when we saw the sign outside the parking are that said: THIS IS A BIKER FRIENDLY PLACE - DEAL WITH IT... Dan, the owner is a motocyclist himself, and the resort is geared up for biker functions... A pub of note, roaring fires inside and out in winter, staff who are sensitive to security and biking gear being left all over the place... Food had all been pre arranged, and was very tasty and plentiful. Rooms were big enough with a double and a single bed, shower and toilet. A kettle with mugs, and the makings for coffee and tea, and a bar fridge were also available in the room, despite the fact that coffee was always available in the main dining room. Comfy beds with electric blankets and spare blankets made for much needed sleep after a long day's ride and a festive evening in the pub after supper... The only thing that had me giggling was the sign asking people not to chase the rabbits, as the rabbits don't chase them... Yes - they have 20 or more well fed rather large, healthy looking rabbits that roam free on the property - particularly in the children's playground area... Some of the rooms are quite a trek up a bit of a hill, but if you get one of these rooms, you are rewarded with quite a view... Good for a weekend getaway with kids or without. Good for a weekend getaway with a motorbike or without... Thanks Dan for a wonderful resort and...

Read moreThe Lodge has a wonderful setting as it overlooks magnificent views and is part of the Clarens vibe but is set just out of the centre which is lovely. We visited the lodge to attend a local cycling event. The accommodation is comfortable but I had an issue with the meals. As we were a big group I felt that they were understaffed, our meals took forever to get to us. Before cycling I felt the lodge could have served a more wholesome breakfast, not just cereals and toast. After cycling I would have expected the lodge to serve lunch especially since everyone went back to watch the rugby and the lodge was full. We then went out for supper, expecting another long wait for our dinner. This is a great loss for the lodge and could easily be remedied. The 7am Sunday breakfast was awesome, full bacon eggs and sausages. I would recommend staying here but if I was in a big group I would possibly arrange meals with the manager...
