Periwinkle Grove Cottages B&B — Hotel in Dihlabeng Local Municipality

We arrived Thursday for the long weekend in Clarens. We walked around the property trying to find out where we were supposed to be. We found a lady who gave us a key and pointed to the cottage we can stay at. One bedroom open plan cottage with basic amenities. We struggled to get the fire place going, it was -4 degrees C. Smoked ourselves out of the place, in the cold. The wet towels did not dry, and the establishment do not replace towels. We had to cope with wet, smoke smelling towels for duration of our stay. Sunday morning at 4am we heard people at my car. We chased them away and reported this to the cleaner the next morning. Up to this point we have not seen the owner. The owner phoned us and told us that we have a panic button on our keys (nobody told us about this, we thought it was remote for the broken street gate) He went on to say that my brand of car is stolen all the time in Clarens and in fact there was another car of the same brand stolen Sunday morning (because they did not get mine?) What an unexpected surprise. We were coming to support my husband on a cycle race...reluctantly. I didn't even consider the accommodation but Periwinkle Grove ended up being the highlight of the weekend. Attention to detail on the furnishings plus the equipping of the self catering cottage is exceptional. The different breakfasts were plentiful & delicious. The rose garden outside is lovely. The girls did lovely rubbings on the bark of the big trees. The cottages were private and quiet. I did not meet the management but the place is so well run there...

This is a 10/10, 5 star experience. If you are looking for value for money, tidy, clean, safe, quality accommodation, this is it. Thank you Chris and especially Sibongile for treating us like royalty. We felt so spoilt with receiving an amazing breakfast in our cottage every morning. After spending an eventful day in Clarens, just to return to a sparkling clean cottage. We will definately be back. Most enjoyable weekend...
