Our stay here was really pleasant. The host is very friendly and easy to talk to, she recommended multiple attractions (hiking trails, historical landmarks, etc.) in the area to us before we even asked. And breakfast was provided everyday during our stay. There is a small pond inside the premises, we even caught a catfish! We stayed three nights here and we don’t hear any noises during the night like some comments described. As for the insects, it was only flies during the day and mosquitoes during the night, which is definitely acceptable in rural areas. We brought repellents ourselves, and there are fly screens on each window of the room. As long as one doesn’t leave the door open all the time. Insects shouldn’t be of concern. Speaking from our own experience, this place is highly recommended! It’s pet friendly too!

The service, food and rooms are great! The rooms are equipped with everything you need from a one stove plate, braai place on balcony, microwave and all the cutlery you need! The owners are very welcoming and breakfast is brought to your front door also. Another note if you want to do wine tasting around neighboring farms, Middelplaas Guesthouse offers FREE transport so you can ENJOY YOUR WINE TASTING!

They got my booking wrong upon arrival and I had to move twice. The rooms are not as nicely decorated as in the photos on the website with old/dirty furniture and no air-conditioning. Lovely lovation, but the service and rooms are very poor. All in all not a great experience and definitely not worth paying R700 - R1000 per night.

My recent stay at this establishment was marred by an unpleasant encounter with the management. Despite the thin walls causing noise to travel easily between rooms, we were unjustly blamed for disturbances until 4 am. The manager's condescending tone and accusations were completely unwarranted, treating us as if we were children.

Adding to the frustration, there was no prior notification of the establishment's rules and regulations regarding expected behavior. A lack of clear communication on these matters left us feeling unfairly targeted. It's essential for guests to be informed about expectations to foster a respectful environment.

Furthermore, it was disheartening to learn that the management resorted to bribing other guests with wine to prevent negative reviews. This not only raises ethical concerns but also reflects poorly on the integrity of the establishment.

The walls are undeniably thin, making it challenging to maintain a quiet environment, yet we were unfairly singled out. The manager's lack of empathy and professionalism, coupled with the absence of clear communication, left a lasting negative impression on our overall experience.

It's disappointing to witness such behavior, and I hope future guests are spared from similar encounters. Management needs to address these issues and communicate expectations clearly to ensure a more welcoming and understanding atmosphere for...

Honestly very disappointing experience at this accommodation venue. After getting back from the venue that evening I was exhausted.

Nothing like a nice hot shower and a good relaxing sleep. However, there was not hot water in the shower or basin. Surely communicate with your guests if there are problems. I heard there was a problem with the power that night but this was later that night I got back to my room at 22:30.

I figured no point in freezing to death in an ice-cold shower, Paarl was freezing that night. The bed I slept on was broken and sagging in the middle, it felt like I was sleeping on a jumping castle.

Next morning 8AM I figured I could finally have a hot shower, no such luck ice cold water again so I washed in the basin with cold water and headed for reception close to 9AM well surprise the door was closed again and a giant watch dog inside that would probably have bitten me if I opened the door. I was not able to sign out.

I was so annoyed by this time that I loaded my car and left without breakfast, this place has a 3-star rating and charges a fortune for accommodation really come on?

Won’t see...

We had a really comfortable stay at Middleplaas, the rooms are really well kitted out - with great full length mirrors, fans, towels, fridge and are completely self catering. We stayed in room 3 which had aircon and a built in braai on the stoep, overlooking the beautiful dam. A mention must be made of Anne-Marie and her incredible hospitality - she drove us to and from the wedding we were attending and fetched us well after midnight. Service that went above and beyond!

My only suggestion for improvement would be to cater for all dietary requirements, we made mention that we were vegan and vegetarian prior to our stay and felt we weren't catered for. My partner got baked beans on a plate and I got fried egg with bacon on the plate (like the other guests) That aside, we would definitely recommend this guesthouse if you have a wedding...
