I stayed at this hotel from Thursday 23rd of May to Sunday 26th of May and I can safely say I had very mixed emotions.
The rooms are absolutely gorgeous they are roomy clean and the bathroom is about the same size as the bedroom. The actual hotel is maintained very well and the security and grounds staff are very friendly. The food once served at the restaurant is good quality for Breakfast and Dinner
I unfortunately can not go without complaining about this hotel. The service was absolutely appalling at the restaurant, front desk and shuttle service. To start with the restaurant we waited on average around 1 hour to 1,5 hours to be served or order be taken. The last evening on which we stayed we waited 3 hours for a menu to be given and a further 30 minutes for our drinks to be served we ordered dessert but never received it. The same night we had friends that were staying at this hotel and they to complained about the service and the serving of cold food once they did receive their order. Lunch time food is not the greatest I believe that I received slight food poising from the beef burger and my sister received an uncooked toasted sandwich.
The only problem I have with the rooms is that the bath takes about 5 years to even have a Childs splash pool amount of water. The shower is a much better option.
The front desk was not helpful at all about finding out the times for meals and for arranging shuttles they were very abrupt and rude. The shuttle service itself was amazing but they proceeded to not give us an invoice for the trip and said that the accounts department would be in touch. We received a call shortly before departing for our flight and said that we would only be able to process payment when we landed for we were already boarding the plane. The accounts lady then stated that we had to pay immediately or the amount would be removed from her salary. We had to wait till we landed to pay and in turn received 5 to 10 calls every hour to ask where the payment had been made even though we had already made payment.
Overall I think that I would stay at this hotel again but the service is the biggest turn away. We would look to stay there but opt out of any options for food and rather travel the 15...
Read moreI recently attended a wedding in September 2025 that was held at the Bluewater Bay Sunrise hotel. Indeed it has a wonderful welcoming appeal. The venue looks spectacular. But don't be fooled at all by the lights and the appearance of 5 star service. As tot will be very disappointed. Firstly, their waiters are not trained at all. They are rude without any etiquette. They would serve your meal without excusing themselves, as they cut through a conversation that your having with another guest right beside you. They just push through and place plates down before you. Without any apologies. Then I waiting to see if they would change my mind during the course of the event. As if that bad waiting was not enough. During the speeches. The staff at the bar were talking so loud while making drinks. That it even catching the attention of the guest. This was very unprofessional. Instead of working discreetly. They openly saw guest looking at them, and continued to carry on with their noise as individuals who are not paid enough to do their job properly. Then while your busy eating a meal, they come to collect the plates, as the dishes needs to be washed. Without even asking they approached the table that I was seated at, without any etiquette or apologies. One of the waiters was about to take my plate while I still had my cutlery in my hands. For those who don't know anything about hospitality industry. I can assure you that those waiters did not even realise what they were doing wrong.
Then let us get to the good things. The food was nice. Not overly exceptional. But nice and it was served warm. For that I was grateful.
When it comes to the high price one pays for the service you receive. I would never recommend this venue. You will only be...
Read moreAttended what was supposed to be a beautiful Women's day event but one incident ruined their entire experience.
The event was a high tea with finger food servings and treats. The servings were generous and food was good. However, it was also filling and I couldn't have the sweets treats. Everyone around me had take away box with their finger foods and the treats.
Here's the plot twist, when I went to ask for a box, I was told it wasn't allowed. Now, this puzzled me because everyone else on almost every table had a take away box. Whether it was in error or not, the precedent had already been set. Take aways were already allowed and as such, I cannot be an exception to the rule.
The entire event was amazing like I said. I had fun until this point. How the matter was handled was disappointing at an event such as this. In a room mostly full of women, a room supposed to celebrate each and every one in attendance, I happened to be the one unfairness had befallen. I had to be the unlucky woman who's choice had to be curbed by rules that were not applied to the other females in the room.
Sadly, as much as Tanya (manager, I think) , tried to meet me half way, it took quite some fight from me. I AM A WOMAN IN SOUTH AFRICA and I fight every day and a women's day event was the last place I expected to fight at. And the unfortunate part, I went to this event to take my mind away from a loss of a loved one only to open myself up to more hurt.
Thank you, next. My first experience is most...
