We stayed for 3 nights. Lovely couple picked us up from the airport which was very nice. So the shuttle service is an absolute plus. Good area to stay in. Room was not good. Bed uncomfortable, fridge unsteady as foot was missing, electrical extention cords all over the place, nice bathroom until we bathed... it leaked all over the floor. Towel rails fell of wall. Manager did respond to our complain, removed towel rails and gave us a towel stand. Bedside table lamp did not work. Had to ask for a key for locked cupboard. TV size was good and modern, but not a good DSTV package. Very little to watch, and no SA news! Bedroom door jammed each time we locked it. In fact we locked ourselves in! Pool a slimy green. Curtain hooks needed replacing o curtains. Furniture and fittings and linen need to be upgraded. Fire exit sign fell off wall . Windows need serious attention - Breakfast served efficiently, but was not great. simple and too much canola oil. Toast served up with margarine already smeared on!!! Who eats margarine?Supply butter. No decent coffee., only instant Ricoffee, which is the cheapest. No coffee filter or plunger or machine. Does have an honesty bar, which is a plus. Sorry guys, you really need to do some maintenance .Nice and friendly owners but please, upgrade, and maintain ... you are overpriced for...
Read moreThe only advantage of this guest house is that it’s close to the airport. Otherwise, very poorly run, the whole place is disorganised. The room I was in had no rug or side lamp. I had to trot to the door to switch off the light. The owner disappeared with my change after I bought a drink and was nowhere to be found when it was my time to go to the airport. He tried to coax me to take Uber at my own expense and he was going to meet me at the airport to refund my money. This was obviously a lie because the guest house is only 7 minutes away from the airport. If he couldn’t make to the guest house, how would he make it to the airport. The wife borrowed money for me to get a taxi to the airport but refused to give me my change. The sockets are all round pin, which is alright for South African guests. It was a nightmare to charge my phone or laptop as there’s not even USB charging ports. This place is too pricey for the environment and...
Read moreAfter missing a flight out of Johannesburg the help desk suggested the Edward and advised they are an inexpensive guest house, but they would provide a free shuttle and breakfast. Upon arrival I noted how tidy and clean everything is, but indeed it is very, very basic with few amenities, and lousy Wi-Fi, if any. But the price was right (real cheap), the bed was comfortable, there was hot water, and again...very clean and safe. I particularly enjoyed the attention that German and his wife made to making sure everything was okay. I would have no problem staying there again, but do keep in mind...it...
