We tried to call this guest house using the phone number provided on the booking confirmation, we got a message advising us the number no longer existed so we went to the owner of the guest house we were already staying in near Kruger Park who also tried the provided number & also received the same message we did. He tracked down a mobile number & tried to speak to them but there was a language problem. 2. Upon arrival at the guest house I went to pay the money owing by using our MasterCard credit card but was told that they only take cash, the booking confirmation stated Visa, Euro/MasterCard were accepted. We had no cash on us so we had to be driven to an ATM. 3. We asked what time was dinner & where will it be. We were told that lunch & dinner were not available even though the booking confirmation advised that both lunch & dinner were available at an extra cost. We asked what can we do for dinner & we were given a bunch of take-away brochures, we chose Domino's Pizza - how do we contact them as there was no phone number on their brochure, a phone number was tracked down, we were not allowed to use the office phone but had to use my own mobile, the problem with that I no longer had a Sth Africa sim card & the phone call had to go via Australia. The pizza was ordered, I asked how do we know when it will be here was told reception would come to our room & get the money plus a tip. 4. The room we booked was a family room for a max. 4 people - that is not what we got, we got a small double room with a double bed - very squeezy. 5. The room had no a/con or ceiling fan but there was a small heater/cooling fan which was in the room which we had to sit on a chair to try & get some breeze. 6. Went to have a shower but there was no hot water so had to walk up to the reception to find out why. 7. The booking confirmation stated that there was satellite TV but all we got was a TV that only had 2 channels which were very snowy & impossible to watch asked why & was told someone will be in tomorrow to fix the problem. 8. Our booking confirmation stated that there was a phone in the room which we never found. 9. The shower had panels missing so a shower curtain was in their place but the curtain didn't come to the floor so the bathroom got very wet & slippery.||The room was clean & the room did have a small fridge, a free wifi password was provided.||Breakfast was excellent. The shuttle bus was at the airport...
Read moreTERRIBLE!!!||I was left stranded at the airport after 22 hours of travel. All flight details and transfers were confirmed with the lodge numerous times and reassured all is in order.||My pick up was booked for 16h30 the afternoon and nobody was there. ||When I phoned to find out where my pick up was, the person at the Lodge had NO idea who I was. I had to repeat my name and surname 5 times and spell it 3 times and then they tell me that it would take at least another 20 minutes for someone to pick me up as I have only just booked the transfer. The transfers were booked and confirmed in writing by the Lodge (Jimmy, to be exact), 24 August 2016 already. My booking was for 19 September 2016. Only at 18h20 I got a call back from Jimmy, asking if he should still pick me up. This almost 2 hours later from what was booked and that I would still have to wait another 20min if I still needed a pick up.||Needless to stay, I never stayed at this Lodge!||Now, a week later, NO apology and I am still waiting on my full refund.||Proof of payment was sent to the Lodge, 04 September 2016, 17 September 2016 and again 26 September 2016. ||The only response I got, was that they would only refund me if I could prove that I made the payment. What more do they want if this was sent 3 times already???||AVOID,...
Read moreWorst guest house I’ve ever stayed in in South Africa. There is no gate attendant and no doorbell, so several times we stood outside the gate for ten minutes or more waiting for someone to notice us so we could be let into the compound. The Wi-Fi was so slow, you should consider it non-existent. ||||It was more expensive than the chain hotels like Sun1, and we had to pay on check-in (probably because they know how many people won't want to pay after staying there!).||||Other minor annoyances that added up to an all-around negative experience: ||||There was a kettle and two cups in the room but exactly ONE teabag and no coffee. There was also only one towel in the room when we checked in and we had to get another.||||The TV made strange noises until we realized what it was, and unplugged it.||||NO sound insulation — you can hear everything going on around you, which woke us up too early both mornings.||||The bed was insanely warm and we only realized halfway through a sleepless night that the mattress warmer had been turned up all the way to maximum power and no one had warned us when we arrived. ||||Positives: A small pool, free taxi service to and from the airport. Jimmy, the driver, was lovely and on time. He even drove us to a restaurant for...
