At the time of visit the temperatures had dropped . Little did I know that water from the shower would be cold as well. 1.On day one, it was luke warm-cold , nevertheless I forced myself to take a shower. In the evening,I could not take a shower since the water was cold, the same thing in the morning. When reporting the issue to the reception, they confirmed that they were aware, yet they allocated me to the room, not even explaining it to me upon arrival. I was given a key to have a bath in a different room located on the 2cnd floor, whilst I was allocated on the 7th floor. I felt so embarrassed and humiliated when I had to go to the 2 cnd in an elevator, whilst in a nightie😭 in order to take a shower.Even in that room, the water was Luke warm. 2.When I got back to my original room, I couldn't open the door, I had to go back to the reception for them to activate the access card. 3.When I got back to the room again the door couldn't open and had to go back to the reception for the second time 😢. I demanded that the lady go with me for her to open the door herself. 4.Still the door didn't open until she requested someone to open using the manual key. 5.They confirmed that it was a battery problem ,it needs to be changed. 6. I spent almost 1 and a half hours outside the room in a nightie with my wet towel in my hand. I was so upset and actually crying. I had to rush to go for breakfast. As if what I went through was not enough, by the time I got to the dining area, I was told to dish up all at once since they were about to take everything back since they were about to close.🥹I immediately lost my appetite. After all the experience with the cold water, not being able to access the room, none of the ladies in the reception saw the need to alert staff at the dinning area about me,🥹. Overall,I had the worst experience at the OR Tambo Premier Hotel for the two nights that I spent. There wasn't even an apology from all the staff I...

Our stay at Premier Hotel OR Tambo was challenging to say the least.

Our first room, the shower door was leaking causing a slip/trip hazard, TV wasnt working, TV remote was broken and the phone was broken so you could not call reception for assistance.

We were moved and "upgraded" to another room. Until we left both air conditioners in the new room didnt work, the front door didnt close prorperly and some days returning from town the door was open as it was not pulled closed properly by the cleaners causing a huge risk of theft, again the phone wasnt working and the shower door was very stiff to try open, plus the lights in main bedroom didnt work which was repaired. We kept reporting this. If you want room service due to the telephones not working u need to keep going down to reception.

We kept on extending waiting for onward flights and kept reception informed all the time as our company did all the payments timeously. Today we were going to extend again for another 10 days baring in mind we had already stayed for 12 days.

Yesterday I informed reception again about the extension. Last night at 23h45 two staff members barged into our room with their own key card, my wife nearly had a heart attack from fright and shock. They were after the money. This is very in appropriate and totally unprofessional. We could both have been naked and they took it upon themselves and just walked in.

Needless to say we checked out and wont extend with this hotel for the extended 10 days, we and will never stay at this hotel again. We will get accommodation elsewhere.

The restaurant staff was a cut above the rest, friendly and helpful. Amazing team. Food was execellent.

As for administration and maintenance, there is no maintenance and guests just keeps getting moved from room to room as they dont maintain or fix defective...

Location: Pretty close to the airport, which is convenient. However, not a great area as there is nothing to do nearby. Youll need to travel by taxi (or drive) to any sort of attraction, restaurant, activity etc (hotel facilities excluded of course).

The free airport shuttle is convenient.

Room: Our room was a great size, very large. However very outdated furnishings and decor and the aircon did not work very well. The bathroom is where it becomes very disappointing. The bath was so dirty that we could not use it. The showerhead was absolutely terrible, and it was almost impossible to get the correct water temperature. Our particular room was on the ground floor towards the rear, just outside an area which must have been used for deliveries or garbage collection or something similar because on numerous occasions we were confronted with the very loud sounds of trucks / delivery vehicles.

Pool: On our first day the pool had quite a lot of debris in it - leaves and similar. This could have been due to the garden maintenance though, but it would not have been pleasant to use the pool on this day. On the second day the pool was in much better condition.

Gym: The gym is small and basic, but meets expectations.

Spa: Did not use, cannot comment.

Room Service / Service: Its great that room service is available into the very late hours. Service in general is good and staff are friendly.

Restaurant / Dining: We only had breakfast and did not use the restaurant for dinner. The breakfast buffet selection is decent and meets expectations.

Conclusion: Perhaps an ok place for a 1-2 night business trip where you only need it for bed and breakfast. As long as your bathroom is cleaner than our one...

I don’t even know where to start, everything, from the building’s design to the hospitality, was exceptional. From the moment we drove in, I felt secure with the 24/7 security at the gates. The check-in process was smooth, and the staff were incredibly welcoming, especially the restaurant team, who made the experience warm and inviting. The hotel itself is a beautiful, peaceful escape. The poolside area is stunning, and while I didn’t get a chance to swim, relaxing by the pool was still a highlight. The ambiance of the hotel is calm and tranquil, perfect for unwinding. My room overlooked the trees, and the sound of birds in the morning and evening added a special touch to my stay. The food was impressive, too. Breakfast was great, about an 8 out of 10, and dinner was similarly enjoyable, around a 7.5 to 8 out of 10. Some dishes were outstanding, while others were more standard, but overall, the dining experience was satisfying. The architectural design is truly remarkable, with beautiful decor that enhances the space. Housekeeping was prompt and attentive. I’ve stayed in numerous hotels, but this one truly stands out for its exceptional service and tranquility. Overall, my stay here was nearly flawless. A solid 9.7 out of 10. I’d happily return and highly recommend it!

The staff attempted to enter my room multiple times despite the “do not disturb” sign being on the door. They entered when they thought I was gone as well, but I kicked them out when they walked in without permission, claiming that someone told them to “fix the hairdryer” which was a lie. When I told the GM, or some black man who claimed to be the GM, he told me they were legally permitted to enter my room at any time. I even got a note saying that if the “do not disturb” sign was on my door for more than 24 hours they would enter my room regardless. (That note was left under my door repeatedly in a 8 hour window) That is incredibly shady, and a good sign of staff trying to make excuses to steal due to low pay or just petty envy. The pool isn’t a pool so much as a puddle. Rude staff and poor reception and restaurant service as well. Likely the usual self loathing African service I’ve seen as a result of colonialism. They seem to act like slaves of old who hate to see a free black man. I wouldn’t stay there again.
