Fairlawns Boutique Hotel & Spa — Hotel in Gauteng

Yesterday was my 60th birthday and my two daughters booked a Spa treatment for us. Something special. Our plan was to have the treatment, swim in the pools, and have a relaxing lunch on the terrace. We were travelling from Pretoria for this with ample time to spare but found ourselves stuck in the middle of a 4 or more car pileup accident on the N1S. Most of the time standing dead still. When we realised this is not a quick fix accident we phoned the Spa to explain the situation. Both the numbers we had phoned kept disconnecting on every occasion. We eventuly sent an email hoping they would get it. Eventually we got thru to the hotel who would pass on the message as the Spas telephone lines had been struck by lightening. Needless to say we were late for our appointment. Hotel staff very friendly but walking into the Spa was another world. There was no welcoming, no friendly gestures. We felt like we were a total inconveniece. I have been to plenty of Spa's and each one has there ways but we were always welcomed with a drink or a snack. The goodies were on the table but never once were we offered a thing. We were then seated and filled in the necessary forms, which i don't believe any of them are read. Because if they had read them they would have seen its a birthday. Never once were we asked if it's a special occasion that mother and daughters are doing this together. There was a lot of talking between the therapists and then we were taken into the rooms to get done. We were told then that there is not enough time for a 60 min treatment cause we late. They have other people after us which I understand. We can have 30 min treatment instead. There was no negotiating on this that maybe we could have it done a little later when there was an opening. I mean coming from Pretoria, been stuck in traffic for an hour for a 30 min treatment. We could have done it closer and would have been less stressful. My 30 min massage was good a therapist friendly. Once back at reception not a sole offered us anything to drink or enquire if we enjoyed our massage. We were left standing around as if we did not exist. There was only one other couple waiting after us and thats all i saw in the time we were there. I did not see any more people using the Spar or pool area. I got more the impression it was not busy but rather too much trouble to try and accommodate us and make it a memorable occassion, cause nobody actually cared. I am not used to this treatment and diffinately not from a 5 star Spa. We had to ask were the pools were and this also became an issue. We were pointed in a direction and then to find the pools ourselves. Barman was standing in bar but does not come to pool with drinks menu. We have to call him. All the staff seemed to be lethargic and uninterested and unhelpful. Venue absolutely stunning but never have I had such poor and unfriendly service at any other Spa's I have visited. We ended up packing up and enjoying some delicious food elsewhere. This Spa will definitely not be on my "go to again" list. Highly disappointed and sorry that my daughters were put thru this as they really wanted it...

I'm not usually one to complain but I haven't had such bad service like this in a long time. I wouldn't call this a 5-star hotel at all. I took my sister to the Fairlawns hotel for 1 night stay incl spa.

The spa was okay but unfortunately there was light rain so staff felt like they didn't have to work. We had to run in the rain to go find someone to order food and when we asked why no one was around, their excuse was that they didn't want to get wet? So you're saying a paying customer must get wet??

The room we stayed in was okay but no hot water and there's no decent channels on the TV. In the morning no one greets you, you walk into the hotel for breakfast and no one is there to seat you... we literally had to go find someone to order food. We also had staff mopping the floors around us when we walked in at 10:30am on a Saturday as well? Surely that could have been done in the early morning before guests arrived for breakfast. What on earth is management doing?

We order breakfast and our food comes .. no salt/pepper/butter is given to us. My sisters breakfast arrives with only one egg but on the menu it says 2. The waitress says its because the chef in new and says they'll bring the other egg ...only for us to not see her again😅 we just ended up leaving and went back to our room. They charging R250 for a meal ..you get a better breakfast at a Wimpy! Also, I'd love to understand how they're justifying a charge of R250 for oats?

If this is the level of service you give to customers I honestly don't see this hotel surviving much longer. It's such a pity as I visited for breakfast several years ago and it was great. What happened? A total...

One of the wort places I ever visited I think they need to update new photos to avoid false advertising!!! We booked one night we had a problem with the booking and the lady promised to fix the problem after we checked in I received a phone call from a manager to say that all what we get is an apology!! So disgusting and unprofessional We had a booking for 2 hours spa First of all the place is very dirty even by the bar the pool not clean rusty and noisy showers while there is sign enjoy the silent 😅 the lady’s were 37 min late for our treatment we had to phone the spa reception over 3 times to ask for someone to come They did send very rude and not polite lady’s No greeting nothing straight they started with the treatment rush rush instead of 30 min took maybe 6 min then they said we must wait tell they put the shower on took them 22 min which is count from our time While we changing they kept on opening the door without knocking Did complain to lady by the spa reception that we not enjoying the treatment and can see the lady’s don’t feel like doing anything 1 min after they apologized they came and opened the door without knocking 🙃 we decided not to do the treatment as can see poor service these lady’s not been trained probably and unprofessional They didn’t care they weee ok with that Over rated can see this place under a very poor management the food was ok 4/10 not worth the crazy prices you pay for food and accommodation definitely rather go to the...
