The staff are an absolute joy and cannot do enough. The problem lies in the maintenance management where clearly the staff is not sufficiently trained to note problems and on site management do not understand possibly implications. Issues found- shower outlet does not function properly. Staff was aware of this but nothing is done. Shower leaks on side whilst a simple silicone application will resolve the problem. Light switches sensitive to touch and is in need of a proper service. Consider a infrared scan throughout. This is a thatched area and electricity faults can easilly ignite a fire! The room was fine and is standard. The rate however I believe is too high when 2 persons share- rather consider a rate for the room and add cost for breakfast and towels extra. The surrounds are beautifull and gardens well kept. There is a water leak noticable and audible in the garden but it is not addressed. The GL Cottages has a unique design set where each room is customised to a different country’s feature. I was quite impressed by the number of rooms available there and the warm hosting I received during my stay from the staff.|The cottage is at the foot of a hill which you can climb for 5 mins for a wonderful view of Johannesburg. My favorite time on the hill was at dusk and at dawn.|The cottage is in a very secured area and this was one of the main reasons I loved staying there.|If you are a nature lover, this is a good inexpensive place to stay in Johannesburg.|They also provide good taxi services.|However, if you want to order dinner from the restaurant you have to do so before 4pm or otherwise eat outside.|The tv and WiFi signals are low in the rooms. This is a fantastic set of cottages, and a great alternative conference venue in Johannesburg for groups of up to a few dozen. ||Accommodations are a bit more rustic than a major hotel, but very comfortable. It's also close to the international airport.||The setting is serene: beautiful, expansive gardens and access to Observatory Ridge with panoramic views over Johannesburg make you feel like you're not in the city.||Though everything about the place is wonderful, the warm and welcoming staff are the real highlight.
