We stopped in Pretortia after a journey on the Blue Train. And if anything this was even better! Franz was the perfect host, and we were made to feel at home right from the start. We just wished we oculd have stayed longer. Everything about Kloof House oozes quality and charm, and it is easy to imagine it as the official government guest house it once was. We really felt we could just move in and live here. The bedrooms were sumptuous suites, the grounds perfectly looked after and the public rooms welcoming and comfortable. Kloof House was a surprise! It is well positioned in the city, with wonderful views of Pretoria and beyond but the real surprise was the excellent, personal service. Not only were the hosts most accommodating, they went out of their way to make my stay memorable. It is a stylish establishment - traditional rather than modern. We allowed our travel agent to book a reservation in Cape Town for a romantic Christmas dinner and we were not disappointed.
