In general, our stay was quiet, private and we woke up well rested every morning. Hennie was a fantastic host and made us feel right at home, 10/10 for Hennie. We stayed at the Sundowners Lodge, and to be honest, at first it was great. Spacious, enough room for entertainment and private. But after the first night's stay, we saw how rundown the place actually was. The couches in the living had been fixed with tape at the bottom, the wooden curtain railings are very old and we struggled to close the curtains. The kitchen was well equipped but not clean. The counter tops was sticky and the dish cloths was smelly. It was extremely humid during our stay, which made the fact of NO AIRCON, very very difficult. There was two fans, one in the living room and one in the main bedroom. We had to move the fan in the living room to the main bedroom to try cool down the room, which didn't help much. Our son had to sleep with us due to the second bedroom not having a fan or AIRCON. We stayed three nights and the cleaning staff only came to our Lodge on our 3rd day asking to clean out the bins. After they cleaned the bins, we left to go and eat something, only to come back to our Lodge with only one bed made up and they didn't replace the bathroom towels. Beautiful garden but couldn't walk through all the areas as it full of spiders and very thick bushes. I would suggest a makeover, new couches perhaps and installing an aircon. Maintenance in the garden will also make it easier to enjoy it. Cleaning staff should have a schedule to ensure regular cleaning...
Β Β Β Read moreGot here today at 5 October 2023 with my parents, son and nephew only to find out the roads are terrible to get to the actual place. My mom was not informed about this before hand.
We were also not informed of possible snakes deep in the bush, but I mean it's so hot, snakes can be anywhere..I actually saw a rat while driving up. For someone who has a phobia of snakes, this should have been mentioned to us. Don't think I'll be sleeping tonight. My room is Sparrows nest right next to the bush.
The room that my parents are sleeping in (peasants feather) is old and very very creepy. Lots of spider webs outside. It's very dilapidated. It needs a makeover. To think we paid so much of money(Just over 6k).
Laura your response is noted, however what you did last night was unacceptable, rude and uncalled for. Banging on the door and window because you were angry at my review. You woke my son up and when you came back, you actually told someone to bring the key to open the door. Who does that. And you further went on to say it's your doors and your windows you can bang it. You also told my mom that you are going to refund us, and this morning you said you didn't say that and only if we take down our review you will refund us and called us trouble makers. And you said your mom wanted to through us out last...
