The hotel is very nice and the administrative staff were great and very professional. However, this hotel has the most appalling security staff I've ever experienced in any professionally managed setting. I came into the hotel after midnight on Saturday June 18 and had to wait in the dark in front the gate of the hotel for more than 10minutes. I tried honking and knocking at the gate more than 3 times with no answer and no security person at the post to help me out. After approximately 15mins of not knowing what to do, the gate finally swung open, I drove up to the reception area and was accosted by a security guard who chided and admonished me insisting that I should not honk at the gate but rather that I should call the front desk. I explained I was a visitor and did not have a local phone and no one had explained to me that I would be locked out of the hotel if I came in 'late'. The guard proceeded to yell rudely at me insisting my honking was disturbing important guests including the EMC who was supposedly sleeping at the hotel. To him, I was a nuisance and unwelcome!!! To make things more interesting he told me he had 4 armed guards roaming the property and that he threatened me that he was going to radio them up and order them to SHOOT ME! This nightmare incident was intercepted by a night manager who heard the commotion and apologized to me and escorted me into the hotel. As if this wasn't enough, as the manager was apologizing and trying to explain the situation, the security guard in question literally threatened to physically beat me up and rushed into the lobby to carry out his threat. He was apprehended by the manager who had to shut the door of the lobby to prevent him from coming in. I was SHOOK! I fled to my room and checked out the following day! I expressed my dismay to the management in the morning and they promised to get back to me. Sadly, they never did! Very beautiful place with a very UNPROFESSIONAL security people who threaten the lives of their guests with armed and physical violence. This was a nightmare encounter and hope that the hotel takes a serious review of...

4 Star rating “WTF”:||||Let me state upfront for the record, this is the worst accommodation in JHB that I have ever stayed in! Forget 4 star, lucky to be rated as 2 star. Whoever issued the 4 star ratings was either paid off or owns a share in the establishment. ||||Arrived to a receptionist that could barely greet you. Should have known this was a bad start. No offer to assist with luggage despite no lift facilities. Room was basic but like the hotel, in a desperate need for a makeover and renovation. Carpets are dirty, instant coffee sachets and a bar fridge that had frozen over clearly indicating lack of cleaning and attention. No bath or hand towels in the room - but wait - the phones don’t work so you have to make your way back down the stairs to to unfriendly staff. Housekeeping took 15 minutes to bring the towels. Wait there’s more: no hot water. Back down to Ms Morbid to ask for the basics. Wait 30 minutes. Hold on the horror story is just warming up. Shower drain is blocked and just fills up with water. Back downstairs to this time discuss with the manager who is clearly not concerned with the feedback and arranges in house plumbers (a sign that this is a common situation). Plumbers do their thing and the entire room is filled with the stench of foul and insipid water for the rest of the evening. Asked the manager for the early cancellation policy details but he had no idea what this entailed. ||||My 3 night stay ended up being a single night which I would have changed if it wasn’t after hours. Ended up staying at friends for the remainder of my trip and wasn’t even going to try my luck for breakfast after reading the other reviews on the online platforms. Please I urge you to reconsider this venue for your trips! Don’t waste your time and money. The hotel doesn’t care for their guests. The facilities are disgusting. The...

Good place to go for a quick getaway. Breakfast buffet is quite nice, restaurant staff is friendly. Service is a bit slow though. Didn't have the wine we wanted as on the menu we had to take something different. Few points that could be improved: Provide the extras as advertised, such as the fireplace which did not work, there was no gowns in the room, we had to ask for slippers, had to ask for a hairdryer as well as extra towels. It's not as clean as advertised, carpets could definitely use a deep clean as well as the bathroom. The lights and switches dont work like they are supposed to. The spa is not being renovated it has been closed since February, however there is a mobile spa which is good and the operate from one of the rooms which has been converted. Overall it was good.

Worst hotel ever stayed. Experience: 1. Room has been changed due to lota of stains on bed and blanket. 2. Room: they put me another room. The balcony door was stuck and open. In the morning there at least 100 ants on the table and some on the bed. Woke up by itch. 3. Room: was a better room. Always missing towels, torn down curtains, low qulity bath tub, joints were yellow or black, no free water bottle in the room Breakfasts were very limited never ready on time, at 8:00 am still waiting for egg to be ready. Nearly no cheese or tomatoes. Tables not clean and tidy. Had only one dinner, the meat was good. Never again also, deleted from our company recommended hotel list. Think twice or three time before the reservation

Beautifully decorated Hotel with amazing surrounds. A birders paradise on a little lake. Lovely views. But they are not prepared for loadshedding, sat in the dark for hours. Not even a candle in the room. No hot water for days and no Internet service or telephone for days. The room I stayed in had no internet service at all. I had to stand in the passage. The stock of tea and water in the room was not replenished. It had underfloor heating that could only switch off with all the plugs in the room, your choice. The staff could not have cared less, no apologies just blank stares. I would not stay there again. The breakfast was boring with little choice of hot food.
