Our weekend at Hotel de Rust was nothing short of extraordinary. From the moment we arrived, Werner and Bernadette welcomed us with such warmth and hospitality that we immediately felt at home. They are truly outstanding hosts, with a natural flair that sets the tone for a memorable stay.

The hotel itself is like stepping back in time—elegant, charming, and beautifully preserved. Every corner tells a story, and the attention to detail and beautiful art collection transports you to a bygone era without sacrificing comfort. It’s rare to find a place that combines history, authenticity, and heartfelt care so seamlessly.

Werner and Bernadette’s passion for their work shines through in everything they do, from the wonderful meals to suggesting ideas to make the most of our weekend. Whether it was their effort, cosy atmosphere, or engaging conversations, we were made to feel like cherished guests.

From the time of our booking, right up until the time of our departure at 09:00 this morning (Monday, 10 June 2024) the proprietor, Werner, and his charismatic wife, Bernadette, had been more than prepared to walk the extra mile on our (my wife and myself) behalf. It is extremely rare these days to find , authentic and unblemished hospitality, genuine honesty, and uncompromising integrity, let alone spot it or identify it. Here at Hotel De Rust, you can rest assured that these character traits are delightfully omnipresent! In fact, they permeate from every carefully chosen painting, every inch of the gently restored panels of ark wood - upliftingly smelling of carpenter's oil, every loving and eclectic display of bespoke and nostalgic memorabilia, arts and crafts, wing-chairs and dark-red carpets. Werner an his team are givers of hope, merchants of care and managers of Ubuntu! Did we happen to make new friends, Amanda and I? No, we met new old and familiar members of our closest core-family - LOVE and unreserved ACCEPTANCE. We salute you! - All good, Ferdinand and Amana Potgieter...

This place is a step back in time and is amazing. The owners are the some of the nicest people you can ever hope to meet. I arrived on a Sunday during a motorcycle trip through Cape and had managed to get a puncture. It didnt take long for the owner to have the bike in their own workshop wheel off and on it way to being repaired. The hotel is actively involved in the motorcycle scene in the area was soon introduced to other who came to chat Motorcycle travel. What an awesome evening and a great sleep.
