Lodge 96 — Hotel in George

Was alright when we first arrived, the place looks over grown, dirty and unclean and messy. Doesn’t look like the pictures as per say. The opener was friendly but during the course of our very short stay he was in our face, over friendly, didn’t respect privacy at all. Wouldn’t really leave us alone, had some small talk by the pool while the kids were swimming but he wouldn’t really leave. Almost walked in on small kids getting dressed without even knocking on the door that doesn’t lock or close properly. He kept walking into the back house where the adults were staying continuously without even knocking or saying anything. Pushed past my brother in law who was standing in the door way to get inside for some reason, the kitchen was dirty, the fridge was somewhat clean but not very, and he bought knifes and forks and towels from his house after knowing how many people were coming to the house and had plenty of time to set up.

We’re all for friendly people but when it comes to our kids and family’s needs family comes first and a host of an accommodation has the responsibility of being a good host but there is a line of host responsibility you don’t cross.

We left as soon as we could as the family felt very uncomfortable in these situations as we also have small kids and during our two or so hours there we thought it’d be best to find another place as we couldn’t stand for the overbearing, somewhat invasive inappropriate behaviour. I recently had the pleasure of staying at Lodge96 in Oudshoorn, and I can't say enough good things about my experience. The lodge is located within walking distance of the town center, making it a convenient and ideal location for exploring all that Oudshoorn has to offer.

But what really made my stay exceptional was the warm and welcoming hospitality of the owner. They went above and beyond to ensure that my stay was comfortable and enjoyable, from providing great recommendations for local attractions to making sure that all of my needs were met throughout my stay.

The lodge itself was fantastic - my room was clean, spacious, and comfortable, and I especially appreciated the fact that I had my own private space. The common areas were also beautifully decorated and well-maintained, creating a cozy and inviting atmosphere throughout the property.

All in all, I would highly recommend Lodge96 to anyone looking for a comfortable and welcoming place to stay in Oudshoorn. The owner's hospitality was truly exceptional, and the location is perfect for exploring the town and its surroundings. I can't wait to come back and...

We traveled from Cape Town after staying at various seaside locations and booked in advance. The road took way longer than expected but Matt kept in touch with us the whole way and waited til after 8pm to check us in and had a fire ready for the braai we had planned for supper. The local area is full of attractions from close encounters with wildlife to watching the hippos in the lake and not least of all the Cango caves.
