Outeniqua Inn — Hotel in George

Do not stay here. Booked via agoda and upon arrival was told by staff that I was not to stay there that night. Said there was a cancellation email that I never got. Then, after an hour on the phone with Agoda, I tried to sort it out and eventually cancel due to non service. Then Outeniqua emailed me my cancellation as proof, which was timestamped an hour after arrival. They have zero respect for customers anymore. I stayed there twice before and they were lovely, think new staff are the worst I have experienced in hospitality. Never book or stay here. Edit:See owner responded. My issue was not with the third party mistake it was the nonchalance of the person answering the phone. No compassion, no care. I have stayed there three times previously, and even though the offer is there, it seems like with new staff, the level of service and care has fallen. Outeniqua Inn is located on a busy road in George, and offers 7 modest rooms. The guesthouse has had it best days some years ago. Management uses old photos that do not reflect the current condition. Furnishings and decoration provide an indifferent atmosphere. Free parking on the premises. Our small room had air-co, TV high on the wall, wardrobe & safe, 140cm size bed, tea making facility, desk, and fridge. Windows can be open but do not have mosquito screens. We had a small, yet adequate bathroom with washbasin, toilet, and shower. All was clean. Between 07:00 and 09:00 an English breakfast is served: eggs made to order with bacon, mushrooms & sausage, toast, cups of butter & marmalade, tea & coffee. No yoghurt, no orange juice. Rooms are very spacious and clean. I stayed in Room 6 where the safe was not working and the en-suite shower is very small. There were coffee and tea facilities in the room, but I had to ask for milk. Service was a bit worrying from the manager's side who booked two rooms for me while I requested only one room for two guests. The receptionist on duty tried his best to let me feel at home and deserves a raise. The location could be in a more quieter street though.
