In my opinion this is the best restaurant in George and not only for the cuisine. The venue is beautiful, there are lovely well kept gardens on the spacious grounds. There is outdoor seating on the main building and also a separate braai area if you feel like doing that. The main building is modern and spacious with good quality tables and comfortable seats. The suburb is quiet without the traffic noises of the city and the music indoors was tasteful. The menu did not have a whole lot of items to choose from, but the choices are more than sufficient and the prices were good. The comprehensive variety of drinks and beverage options is remarkable. We shared a starter of sweet corn fritters, it comes with three flap jack sizes fritters, perfect as we were a party of three. My wife ordered the chicken breast stuffed with spinach and wrapped with bacon with sweet potato mash on the side. My daughter and I both ordered the fillet medallions in port and mushroom sauce. We selected Beyerskloof Pinotage to accompany the meal. The food was excellent in preparation, presentation and quantity, we loved it. We shared a dessert of chocolate mousse with a cranberry topping, it was innovative and delightful. Of course we tried a cup of the house brand coffee called Päuse, its good coffee. The staff were well presented and efficient and there was a visible management presence. Overall it was a most enjoyable experience for us, therefore I highly recommend that you treat yourself to a meal at the...
Read moreWhat a lovely restaurant! It has the most beautiful outdoor seating in an absolutely gorgeous garden filled with lush flowers and butterflies and birds! And the waiters and waitresses are so friendly! I really fell in love with this place from the second I parked my car!
I came here to see off some family that was visiting from Johannesburg, sort of like a mini farewell. I had heard a lot of good things about this place and even stories about it belonging to someone, a vet or something by the name of Mr Deacon... Or something like that, I don't know, anyway that's not really important. Let me get straight into why I haven't given this restaurant 5 stars despite it being such an absolutely lovely place!
I was not impressed by the menu at all. I wasn't able to order anything on the menu, which is something I am quite used to (at other restaurants) because I can't eat a lot of foods. But the huge disappointment came in when everyone at the table decided to get dessert, and I had seen on the menu it said gluten free options available! Unfortunately there weren't any gluten free desserts and well yes, unfortunately that is why I decided on 3 stars.
Our waiter was Patrick he was also lovely and did tell me that there are plans to have a vegan and gluten free section on the menu, so that was nice of him as well.
My brother has hake and chips, I took a picture I'll add...
Read moreWhat should have been an amazing first experience, turned out to be an overwhelming disappointment for my wife and I. It was 11.15am on the 30/03/2022 when we found what appeared to be a lovely venue, for a hot beverage and snack. A pleasant enough waiter came to assist with seating inside although we wanted outside. The garden was fully booked from 12.00pm. There were a few open tables which I pointed out. The waiter immediately said he would call the manager who had more authority than him, giving the distinct impression an option was available. Instead, the manager JP came along with such passive aggression making it clear there was no room for discussion. I was not going to get into any debate and told JP I was more disappointed in his attitude and would do a review. He arrogantly pointed out we were on cctv and he was the one in charge with extended authority to respond to any review. He was quick to point out that the cameras would pick up his friendly body lanuage thus exonerating him of my potential poor review. The owner needs to seriously review such passive aggressive hidden attitude and lack of ability of would be more senior staff or maybe even part owner, whose attitude does not allow them to be more...
