My family of 4 headed to the Pine Lodge on a Saturday afternoon, expecting to settle in to our accommodation for the evening before heading out to the function we were attending in George for the evening. To our surprise and disappointment, the check-in office was closed at our arrival. We arranged with the check-in lady beforehand that we would arrive before 15:00. When we arrived at 13:30, the only staff member on the property was a security guard. We approached him to ask if it would be possible for someone to check us in. He stated that it would only be possible if we paid all fees directly to him in cash. This didn't sit well with us, as he had no identification as a staff member of Pine Lodge, and this was not the arrangement we made with the check-in manager. We then contacted the manager directly. She responded very rudely and said that if we didn't pay all fees upfront and in cash, we would not be allowed onto the property. This was not in accordance with the arrangement we made earlier, so we decided not to proceed with this absurd and rude encounter and rather seek accommodation elsewhere. After a few calls, we were luckily taken in by the Whispering Pines. What a lovely, old-school stay over we had after all. After the rude and unprofessional treatment at The Pine Lodge, they will unfortunately never...
Read moreWe reserved the weekend to commend my child's 21st birthday. We informed the woman who booked us in that we're hosting a get-together/braai, she said it was alright she'll be giving us two units close to one another. I told the woman we are 12+ individuals staying in mentioning a 2x 6+ sleeper is preferred, she informed me that the units she was offering would be enough and she concurred it is fine to keep a gathering. Next thing the day I'm being brought in the office and being abused in front of other guests by the receptionist. The manager needed to converse with me telephonically in light of the gathering and of the clamor. The manager was deprecating me and yelling at disclosing to me that I assume to leave despite the fact that we paid for two evenings. The manager is an unprofessional Discourteous old woman segregating towards my child and his companions while I went to the shops to get food expressing that they're giving her lodge a terrible impression. She had no privilege to converse with them in an obtuse way. The staff was not inviting. Maybe we were at a jail because we weren't permitted to play any music nor be outside the units after 10 pm. I would not return nor would I recommend the...
Read moreMy parents always stay here when they need a place in George that is closer to the NMU campus because I study there. And everytime they book a room I join them because it's a very nice place to stay at. The bathrooms are always clean with a good supply of all your necessities. The rest of the room is always clean and they have the most well supplied kitchenette ever. You're never in need of anything and if you are, you can always call the reception and they'll sort it out.
One thing that let me down is that they didn't have WiFi on the whole lodge instead the hotspots were in different areas. Hopefully they have fixed that because a WiFi connection is always a perk. Also, I don't know what's with the compartments of stuffing in the duvets instead of normal duvet inners. I just find it really odd. As a result I thought that the bed wasn't made when I first walked in because the bed looked very lumpy.
Overall it is a very nice place to stay at. They also have a swimming pool and a tennis court. I've enjoyed all the stays I've had there and I'll probably stay there a few more times...
