We booked a double room with balcony but when we unlocked our room, it smelt damped, situated in a dark corner with a stoep instead of a balcony.
When we requested a different or better room, we waited almost 2 hours to be assisted as we were told at reception that they were awaiting a manager. When the managed didn't arrive and we complained and threatened that we want a refund she assisted us immediately.
Why did we have to wait for almost 2 hours for assistance instead of the receptionist assisting us immediately?
We were offered a different room, again with a stoep instead of a balcony. This room was slightly better due to sunlight coming into the room. Due to being almost 5pm, we decided to take this room. In hind sight we should've requested a refund at this time.
We had a few snacks from being on the road and wanted to keep these snacks cool but to our surprise there wasn't a bar fridge in the room, which you usually get with hotel rooms.
We used the toilet and after flushing the water continually kept running. We called reception and requested maintenance to come and fix the toilet and only after calling again 2 hours later and complaining, maintenance was there in 5mins. Also, the towels provided was hard and rippled, which in my view was older used towels. Why must it come to a point of complaining before being seen too?
Being in 2023, adding value to your establishment is key to staying ahead and having your WiFi up during loadshedding, in my view, adds value. No, when there was loadshedding, the wifi also goes down. Not even a R1k mobile UPS to keep the wifi up. This cause me to even lose my booking for the next stay as we had no connectivity. To add to this, no streaming services available, so old outdated movies plays on the TV channels provided.
To add insult to injury, when we checked out the next day, the reception indicated that I need to pay for the night stay of R2 441 which I paid on making the booking and I could show proof as there was loadshedding at the time and guess what, no connectivity as the wifi wasn't up and connectivity was very poor in the area.
This was by far the worst experience I had on my travels and this was our honeymoon.
If you want a frustrating stay, by all means, choose this hotel.

Read moreOh my where to begin. We were there in festive Dec 23 and then again now in Feb 25 and what a change. I have to say the staff are very friendly but they truly lack guidance and proper training. Over and above the maintenance was problematic in 23 and became a real medical emergency this time leading to stitches. My hubby came out the shower and knocked his elbow on a towel rail without end caps - the raw metal cut through his flesh and ended up with a deep wound. Everything needs a thorough relook as it has the makings to be great but broken table tennis bats, holes in pool noodles which literally cost less than R50 each, electric ride on cars which are placed at the kids centre can’t be ridden as they are now ornaments without batteries and a wheel or 2 missing - this means kid torture and parent nightmare. The stunning playground at the back was never shown or mentioned to us which we found by accident. Rubble, building materials and dirty cloths lay around the far side near the boat slip. We had to fetch the hosepipe which had no fitting to wash down the boat while staff ride the golf carts at their own leisure and no offer to guests. Finally breakfast - the main even was chaos - no glasses for juice, water had to be asked to be refilled, sliced cheese was mouldy and stuck like glue and the best - the chef making eggs whisked the eggs in an old yoghurt bucket only to then dispense into a pan which was not cleaned from the prior order- all in front of guests while they queued for service in my book - yuck. As per my beginning staff are friendly but management is no where to be found in a meaningful way and leave the staff to bear the brunt. Another example is garden staff watering plants just after it rained in a water scarce town - like hello how about sweeping the paths and maintaining the garden beds instead . Staff are not available to assist behind the bar or counters unless you asked the friendly cleaning staff to call them from the back. It has all the makings to be great - just needs some proper care maintenance planning and thought. If I were Premier Hotels I would do regular undercover guest trips. 33% occupancy is only due to the coach tours who have no...

In my 35 years of guiding i have never experienced a more careless and could not give a damn attitude as such experienced with my group of 49 guests. The hotel ran out of water due to a bust pipe and firstly no one cared to inform my group of what the situation was, there was no attempt from management to make a plan of some sort and there was no simpathy towards the guests and their discomfort. There was no water to flush, no drinking water and no comittment from management to either supply extra water or make a plan. My group consisted of 12 families and 14 children under 9 years of age. When we asked what the situation is , all we got is : is out of our hands answers. We eventually had to look for another hotel and we were told that it was our problem if we decided to leave, and they would not refund us for the other days. We were supposed to be there for 4 nights. 2 full days without water to drink or wash.
Disgusting behaviour and attitude from a hotel. The staff attitude towards the whole situation was absolutely appaling, including the manager who even got upset with us for asking what is the plan forward. We had to buy 30x5 lt bottles of water to supply our guests. The hotel should have...
