We ( a family of two adults 2 children 11 and 9) stayed at Simola Hotel and Country Club in December 2024. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at this Hotel. | We had booked the executive two bedroom suite and it didn't disappoint ( special thanks to Roxanne Marais the general manager - as we feel our request for the upstairs suite was fulfilled thanks to her).|| Sundowners in the afternoon on the balcony with breathe-taking views of the golf course, lagoon and mountains were (cliche-but true) priceless||The bedrooms were great -main bedroom was lovely and had a comfortable large bed -when curtains are open amazing views once again, just stunning. Bathroom ensuite with both a bath and a shower. The second room was perfect for our children and also had an ensuite bathroom with all the amenities needed. ||The living space included a lounge area with tv, a dining area and kitchen that was fully equipped with all the necessary items. ||Suggestion- Our room needed more and new plug outlets to facilitate ipad and iphone charging. European plug outlet - would be helpful for tourists as well. These are not deal breakers - just a suggestion. ||The breakfast daily was delicious and I witnessed the chef inspecting and coming up with plans to change and improve on the set up which impressed me. The fruit - was so delicious- there was an array of baked goods, av ariety of yoghurts , cheeses . cold meats, quiche, eggs cooked to order and the favourite for the kids the pancakes. ||The restaurant food - lunch menu is not vast and so once you have eaten there twice the flavours are a bit redundant. We did not have dinner in the restaurant so cannot comment on the main restaurant menu.||Service wise: We were greeted and treated from the beginning of our stay very hospitably and all staff we encountered were friendly and helpful. Even the security by the entrance when we drove in and out daily were so so friendly and chatty.||We did have a front door lock issue- but this was seen too -albeit it took sometime to fix- it was delt with and the rest of the stay we had no issues with our front door lock again. ||As it was December - the hotel was lively-in a good way- loads of runners -mountain bikers and golfers congregating for an event of some sort. Along with the sporting events there were live music shows and other cultural events taking place. It was very festive. I enjoyed this as it created a positive happy atmosphere.||We saw some wild life including the docile guinea fowl with their cute babies and a troop of baboons on the golf course. The kids enjoyed this. Speaking of kids. There is a (cold) but gorgeous pool which we braved ... lets just say it was 'refreshing'. There is a playground with equipment for the kids which my two girls enjoyed and there are also padel courts but we didn't use them. We are also not golfers and so cannot comment on the golfing facilities etc.||All in all we had a fantastic stay at Simola. Thanks to...
Read moreSo this review is off my mum and dad as they stayed here for about a month and me and my wife were up all most every second to third day.
The rooms are beautiful and have everything you will need , from the gas 🔥 to the kitchen, everything is provided and they refill your bottles of water every day . The all in one oven/microwave and top plats were a bit difficult to use and you were never too sure if u had the oven on, also the TV had an extremely bad picture while we were watching England vs New Zealand in the cricket, you could see other channels to on the same channel, also the staff would switch channels for no reason apart from that the rooms are beautiful.
The balcony was nice and big with a gas braii too , the views were amazing from seeing the lagoon/heads to forest/golf course, you could see lots of birds from sugerbirds to Longtail and more.
We did join them for breakfast 🥐 the views and breakfast area is lovery , the cold food selection of it is very nice but the hot selection side not so much a lot of overcooked food and dried out stuff , as it was in winter my parents wanted a hot plate but the machine that was used for it was never switch on during there stay and when asked about it the kitchen ladys just laughed and normally the whole kitchen staff would normally just be chatting to each other so clearly they need someone to manage them.
In the first week my parents catch coivd so they had to isolate lucky they had that lovery room , they were told that breakfast 🥐 would be delivered in the mornings and sometimes it was and sometimes not.
Overall from their experience it was decent just the staff seem to be unmonitored and dont really worry too much as they just didn't seem friendly enough and every time they ask something they seemed annoyed that u disturb them.
But as said they still had a nice stay and have...
Read moreThe female attendant lindo was horrible rude and not in any way professional . We were family of 10 booked 4 rooms from 9th up to 12th of August At check-in we arrived late in evening after all paperwork done we were walking towards the other end of the hall she shouted across the lobby HELLO HELLO WHERE YOU THINK YOU ARE GOING I TOLD YOU THE GOLF CAR WILL COME AND FETCH YA.
The disaster was at check out we called asking for a porter or bell boy after walking twice to reception and calling several time's (lindo ) said I can't send you the bell boy until you pay your bill that was 60 rands equivalent to 3.4 USD thats when we asked for the GM contact to report it that as well she didn't provide untill we paid .
It is a shame towards tourism where a person leaves a guest with such impression the hotel seemed to be quite occupied.
The cleaning staff and the people at the breakfast area were amazing very helpful and doing the service with a gesture. Even the person who was there on 11th at reception he was extremely helpful with customer service helping us changing other hotel booking and helping in reservation for a restaurant.
The view is amazing very calm place away from...
