When I drove in and out there was no security guard at the gate, despite the noticeable guardhouse. ||The reception desk is not welcoming at all! The seating of the receptionist made it almost impossible for me to see that there was someone in the tiny reception area. She was sunken on a chair behind a tall reception counter. The glaring item on the counter was a box of state sponsored condoms. However, the receptionist was very friendly and welcoming. When I requested to check-out at 11am instead of 10am, the next day, the receptionist left and came back with a response that the owners agreed on condition that I paid them a full-day rate for the extra one hour. [So, don’t get high hopes when you read this statement from the advertisers: “Departure is by 10 am, unless otherwise arranged.”]||Room number 1, which I was allocated, was simple, neat and spacious. It had “ceramic” tiles, a wall heater and a heating blanket – which definitely come handy in Kokstad in winter. The size of the study desk is suitable for business related preparations. However, putting it to use was very impractical because there was no light in close proximity; no electrical plug nearby (unless you have an extension cord); and …. to crown it all …. the low height of the chair relative to the desk itself!||Water pressure and temperature in the shower made a comfortable freshening of the body.||Oh…. almost forgot! The parking space is a disaster in waiting. After parking in the yard, you have no option but to reverse out of your parking bay and all the way down before making it out of the gate.||From a cost - benefit view, I would recommend that this lodge should be the last option for a traveller who wants to...

Our stay at this guest house was one that we would like to forget....... My thoughts on this place is that it is a affirmative project as the owner has no idea what it is to run a guest house or to make his guests feel comfortable. Firstly he did not come back to me for 3 days of making phone calls to him, he did not know whether I paid and how much I paid when we arrived, he was driving his diesel bakkie till very late at night in and out of the property, talking loudly to his guard at the gate with no concern for his guests who were trying to sleep. The room was hardly up to standard with the bedding smelling of smoke, the towels were in a shocking state and even though I booked and paid for 2 people there was only one towel and one coffee cup in the room, basics I should think. The room was really not decorated to a acceptable standard, it was tiled throughout and cold and impersonal. Basic things like the bedside lamps did not work, the electric blanket switch did not work and in the cupboard was an old piece of clothes that someone must have forgotten there before. I felt like I was on the wrong side of the tracks, not a place I would ever recommend to anyone. We travel a lot and one don't mind a simple place but you don't want to feel uncomfortable about the hygiene and cleanliness...

I am booked into this place for 2 nights. I arrived on my first night, there was loadshedding. Myself and my team team were not provided with lamps, we had to find our way in our rooms in the dark. ||||On request for airconditon remote controls, we were told they in worki ng condition. The rooms are cold, the flooring is tile which makes things worse. Whilst I was still shocked, power went off, no it was not loadshedding and no one bothered to tell us what was going on. ||||I then went to the reception to ask for a wifi password and got a cold answer from a very unfriendly receptionist that the wifi is disabled.||||I cannot use the kettle in my room, lòoks very unclean and so are tbe utensils.||||I have travellef extensively throughout this country and find this to be the most unappealing place with no care...
