We absolutely loved the Fairhills Caravan Park & Camping Grounds, but with our mode of camping whereby once we've set up camp in our VW Transporter, we don't really have the ability to travel & explore the area as such - so we're often stuck & stay put where we set up camp - for this reason alone it wouldn't be our first choice for a lengthy stay for say more than 1 or 2 nights, but for those that are into caravanning & camping in tents etc whereby you have transport available to venture around the area - if you're looking for something with a bit of a country feeling a little away from all the hussle & bustle of the city yet within easy reach of it whilst still also having easy reach of everything else you could possibly wish for - like the beaches of Uvongo, Margate & Ramsgate to mention just a few that the Hibiscus South Coast has to offer, having a short drive to the South Coast Mall & popular Shelly Beach Centre, being within relatively easy reach of Port Edward & the Wild Coast Sun - if you're wanting all this but at a very affordable cost which I doubt any of the other Caravan & Camping Grounds in the nearby area will be able to match, then we'd highly recommend it. If we were to be picky & look for faults, the first would be the somewhat poor lighting of the Grounds at night - it sets quite a nice mood but doesn't really bode well for having a night time braai - we started our braai at around 16:30 & were luckily finished before the sun went down or else we would have been braai'ing using a torch - but having said this, like some of the other campers that were there, we'd recommend taking along a portable lead light to overcome this issue. The second thing is the internal road layout is not the best, with some really sharp corners & stop/go pull off zones as it is mostly single lane so one really needs to know where they're heading - especially I would think when towing a caravan as one wouldn't want to end up backing out of anywhere - again, having said this, it just requires a little fore planning & one should be ok - we drove around the park to select a site on our arrival & having a LWB VW Transporter, found we had to negotiate some of the corners with a 2 or 3 point turn but at least once you've gotten around, you feel you've accomplished something lol. Like I said though, these are just nitty picky little things should we be looking for complaints - they in no way took away from the enjoyment of our stay. We will definitely be back for those 1 or 2 nights stays as for us, there isn't another caravan or camping site in the area that can compete with its rates & the locality that it affords us during our visits - which is essentially visiting events at the Dezzi Raceway in Oslo Beach or anywhere else in the Hibiscus South Coast for that matter of fact. For longer duration stays, obviously due to the fact that once we've set up we're stuck there, we would look at other places that offer more facilities such as an onsite shop that offers a little more conveniences, preferably a restaurant & easy walk to the beach - for those with transport whilst camping, don't let these things put you off because whilst they're somewhat of a problem for us, they won't be for you. Personally we'd highly recommend it - the owners & all the campers we came into contact with during our short stay were very friendly & give one a real sense of belonging & being part of a family camping community. We thoroughly enjoyed it & will...
Read moreBeautiful place! The bathrooms are cleaned and restocked every morning around 7, and has a beautiful design and layout, has air freshener, sanitizer, soap dispensers, hot water and all the fine details that is really the icing on the cake. Amazing wheelchair facilities everywhere with a great activities area for all ages. The swimming pool is clean and the manager is friendly, chatting with all the campgoers every morning. There is a shop with sweets, ice cream, ice and more and a well-priced laundry system with a dryer and washing machine. There are workers to help with setting up and taking down camp, and you can pay the cleaner to wash dishes as well. It's very safe with fences all around the property and surrounded with semi-tropical forest that holds a huge variety of animals, birds and insects creating a beautiful ambience to connect you with nature. Monkeys can be spotted in the trees but are never a nuisance. There is a beautiful, clean beach just a 3 minute drive away and a butterfly farm a few hundred meters down the road. It's quiet, peaceful and just...
Read moreI like the fact that I can go to the sea If wanted. A little bit further (something like 1,2Km from the main beach)from the beach. The park is always a favorite. Stands feel larger, closer to a fenced swimming pool with less shade from trees on the bottom section with a wendy house ablution that is always clean. The top part is smaller and the stands look slightly smaller but with nicer ablution and closer to main road that is not to busy. negotiating the park could be tricky (but not impossible as long as momentum is held) as it is build on a hill running down to bottom stands. Did I mention that it is reasonable to cheap rates. Look out for...
