This is situated in a prime location with adequate facilities on site to provide for a memorable event. I had previously used the hotel to host a birthday party pre- Covid times. The service has however dwindled to dismal proportions whilst prices have increased exponent in keeping with current market demands. Hosting my graduation party at this venue proved to be such a disappointment and frustration. The person who had made the booking had failed to communicate the setup for the event as paid for. Table setup was supposed to be black and blue. When we got to the venue, we were greeted by black table cloths, plain black chairs and white paper napkins. After looking for someone to assist, we were told that they no longer had the blue table setting. Because the event was dye to start in 3 hours, we settled for yellow napkins and runners that they had and went on to create our own table arrangement. Times were given for the event commencement (2pm) wherein cocktails were meant to be served, this did not happen. The event ended up starting an hour late due to the venue setup issues but even after that, no cocktails materialized. The virgin cocktails were nothing bur overly sweetened juice with tonnes of icing. Nothing said cuddles on the beach with what was served and as a result, guests left the cocktails unused. Let alone the fact that welcoming cocktails were served 2 hours late, after we were told that the person who had facilitated our event booking had forgotten to alert the team on duty about the cocktails. The result of the impromptu mix was of course a waste of money that could have been well spent. 🙄 10 jugs of juice were ordered for the event but there was not a single thing available to drink. I had to again speak to a staff member and request the juice or water as an alternative if they were having challenges with service. This is negating the fact that it was a hot spring day. Starters were scheduled for 3 o'clock but even those didn't arrive and guests had to go to the kitchen to find our what was happening only to be told that they had too many bookings and the hot wings were still being cooked. Starters were served just before 5pm. The main course itself was palatable even though there were also delays in serving it. Buffet setup was scheduled for 5pm but it arrived a little before 7pm. Bearing in mind that the event itself was concluded after 18:30. There was so much food remaining that out of anger I instructed my family to bring Tupperware from home to pack the food. Dessert was not done with the buffet setup and arrived after the event was concluded and majority of the guests had left, as a result it could not all be served. At the end of it all, this was a very frustrating experience and a waste of my money. To think I paid 16k just to be frustrated on a day that was meant to be so joyous to me! The text of an apology received in this regard does not even begin to make up for the horrible memories I...

We arrived for a booked three night stay corresponding with the end of the year for 2019. We were a trio — retired overseas couple with adult son. My husband has lost the vision in one eye and therein has no depth perception. Literally, the room they gave us was in the “bowels” of this hotel and required six separate first down & then up flights of steps! We entered a room that was dark and thus mere shadows for my hubby. The central bathroom even required a step up. The room smelled stale. The sliding patio door did not have a secure lock on it and opened to a Ground level parking (great for grab & run threat). We heard lot bass throbbing as we exited and realized a popular community pub was beside the lobby!! This was not a place for our group. We actually did not unpack, did not use one thing in the room. We turned around and left the Hotel. We told the Margate Hotel staff that they could have their unused room back for re-sale. All the next day, we called and called to speak to the manager. Finally, we did and were only told that “it is a safe hotel, sorry but it is a fine hotel”. In our country — a customer concerns would have been honored & respected, because they are valued. You look at what they are telling “you” about what the hotel must warn people about — “multiple steps, dim lighting, pub in facility, busy downtown Margate...

I was there on the 31st with my friend. If you are in Margate and you looking for a chilled place to eat and watch sports, the Galleon is the place for you. The staff is friendly and the service is good. They have a variety of yummy meals in their menu and the dessert, OMG don't get me started on the dessert. No alcohol is being offered during this time of course, but they have really tasty alcohol free cocktails. We are still faced with Covid 19 and we are advised to meet in open spaces, keep our masks on, I appreciate the fact that their place caters for exactly that and everyone kept their masks on while we all waited for our orders to be taken and meals to be served. Temperature check and sanitizers at the door. Thank you for doing your part in ensuring your customer's...

I stayed here for 3 nights as I had some work in the area, but I would not stay here again. I have no clue how they managed to get the 3 star badge even because almost everything doesn’t function properly. The patio door was broken, the vending machine didn’t work, the breakfast was sub-par, the TV was hazy and had the worst possible choice of channels, and the list goes on and on. The atmosphere was a bit depressing to be honest. The only saving grace was the staff, they were friendly with me at least. And you have a half decent view of the sunrise in the morning. Although it is interrupted by an half painted painted building a cross the parking lot.

Terribly run down and dirty. Old rooms and bathrooms. Service is also slack. When we checked in I complained about the room and agread to spend 1 night as it was too late to find alternative accommodation but told the manager we would not be staying the next night. When we checked out in the morning they refused to refund us. We later got phone calls from the hotel complaining to us because we took the matter up with Expedia with whom we had booked through. We stay in many hotels all over the world but this one was terrible. I'm baffled as to how they got 3 stars.

I had good experience to this place, the service, clean, spotless. The side beach view is amazing and priceless. The room was clean, the bed was made clean n nice Now it a perfect place to visit. As yiu can see I just took few pictures of the food from the restaurant and they serve delicious food with their smiley workers. Easily accommodative.
