Grew up going on holiday here and returned now for the first time in 16 years. Booked in just after new years so as expected the resort was dirty, broken bottles, rubbish all over which is something I can fully understand and won't discredit the place for. The team here have been working tirelessly since the day we arrived ( 3rd Jan) to get it all cleaned up.

Unfortunately the resort is generally run down however if you not overly fussy everything works. Some Major issues however include: No drinking water, bath water comes out brown and the resort have advised not to drink it. Sewerage flowing where our car is parked. Obviously after a busy season the septic tanks are overflowing. Generally unhygienic and unhealthy. Swimming pool for kids was green, I didn't go close up as I was put off from the outside. Likely due to the lack of municipal water available. Kids facilities in the resort are that of only one climbing frame. Tennis courts are gone. Beach volleyball court is there but the net hasn't been replaced in years. Generally, nothing for kids to do sport wise in the resort.

Issues out of the resorts control.

The main beach is dirty after new years day, broken glass, the stench of urine and sewage, generally an unpleasant experience. Very few clean up staff around after new years to clean up the mess. Rock where beautiful tidal pools where present at low tide now consist of predominantly broken glass and litter. Ugu municipality have put up a sign warning of contaminated sewage flowing directly into the sea, unacceptable practice to rather put up a sign instead of resolve the problem.

We as a family love this resort and beach, it does seem however that either the covid pandemic or general lack of maintenance has resulted in a...

Where do I even begin? I get to the property and my room was not ready, I was informed that my booking was for the next day while I have I confirmation from Booking. Com. The security guy told that there were no units available, and I was given the emergency unit. Dirty is an understatement for this unit(A1), there was dust everywhere, cobwebs, dead insects in the floor, dirt basin and I have no words for the furniture. That old Couch and stinky mat must be burned.. The next day I was moved to "my unit" which was way better than A1 but also had its fault. There were electricity cut due to rain however no candle or oil lamp. No cleaning was done for the 5 days we were there when I asked I was told by the cleaning lady that I have to pay for cleaning services and iron. There was no cutting knife and essential are minimal. On my 3rd day I got a call from reception telling me that Booking.com said the property must handle my payment as they tried to debit my card but it was declined, I was surprised because I already paid a month ago and downloaded my bank statement to show my Pop and a confirmation from Booking.com that they had debited my account successfully however the guys at reception heard non of this. I wasted about an hour trying to solve the payment issue which led to problems in my booked activities as I got there late. So Booking.com killed me on Bank charges as well. Overall this property needs an overhaul on cleaning and maintenance, you can see that it used to be proper in its heyday, we do understand the challenges by Covid19 but basic cleaning nje. I was not expecting to be mopping...

Definitely needs urgent upgrading This place is stuck in the 80s. You get that sense when you start with the reception area. We had to buy water to brush our teeth and to drink because water from the tap was brown and dirty Kitchen cupboards were stuffy and miffy smelling The oven was unusable ...dirty ,rusted grille and the oven tray was filthy. The braai stand was fully rusted ..the builtin braai area was dirty..with monkey faeces..it was disgusting.....I felt sick staying here The microwave was rusted on the inside..kettle was a no go No sponges to wash the dishes with. Cockroaches in the unit ...those big ones you generally see in KZN Bathroom was really outdated ...one didn't even feel like showering there There was no iron to iron clothing. At least this should be a standard for self catering service...I ended up buying one from the supermarket because all the irons were booked out. The units are only cleaned every 3 days which included a towel change. The noise from the main beach parking lot is bad ..loud music till early parts of the morning, drinking ..people urinating all over the place Positive is staff are helpful and friendly and the view from our unit of the ocean was great Travelling all the way from Gauteng for 8 hours...was really disappointed.. definitely not worth the R1600/n for the unit..I booked for 4 days and was planning on longer ...thank goodness I didnt book more days. I wonder if the owners actually read these reviews , if you are not ...this place won't last long I would...

The road to get to the chalet needs a high vehicle. We stayed in chalet no 15 a 6 sleeper. 1 bedroom with a double bed, 1 bedroom with 2 single beds and 2 single beds in the lounge. When we arrived the unit had not been cleaned. We requested cleaning and they obliged. The kitchen is fully equipped. There is a smart tv in the lounge. Checking in was quick and efficient. The unit is comfortable and towels r provided. There r ceiling fans in the rooms and lounge. The unit is rustic and has been neglected. There r gaps between the wall and ceiling that allows lizards into the unit in the evening. The trap door in the ceiling was jammed open. The view from the kitchen is off a littered Bush and the same from the rooms. The view from the lounge was great, we could see the ocean. The braai area is covered and spacious. Load shedding was prompt for 2 hours twice a day. Bottled water for drinking is required as this is the south coast. I will not be visiting this "resort" again.

Excellent customer service from the reception team Minnie, Nene & Sandele. Rooms & views are lovely. Main bedroom had a great aircon, unfortunately the lounge aircon was not working very well. The chalet we lived in was a big comfortable 6 sleeper. Cleaning services ladies very friendly & informative. Decent channels on the TV including Boomerang for the kids.
