Jack of the Karoo — Hotel in Karoo Hoogland Local Municipality

What a pleasant surprise when we arrived at Jack of the Karoo. Jacques was in contact with us on a couple of occasion prior to arrival. I booked through Airbnb and the communication was fantastic. Jacques even sent a WhatsApp with all the necessary details about Wi-Fi passwords along with some other useful information about Sutherland. Some contact numbers along with some details about restaurants etc. Very good customer orientated service. June met us at the location to hand us the keys and give us a quick overview of the important things we needed to know.

The unit has Wi-Fi as mentioned and also has DSTV. There is a nice indoor braai with a lounge table for dinner and there was some board games for those cold winter nights. There was a MAC Computer that could also be used, we did not. The accommodation is spacious with 3 bedrooms (all double beds) and two bathrooms. The house is old but beautiful even our 5 year old commented he likes this house. There is even a washing machine and coffee machine. The town is not huge so everything is really within walking distance depending on your fitness I suppose.

We will definitely stay here again on a visit...

Loved this accommodation. We'll equipped, indoor fireplace, massive rooms and very spacious. The only criticism I have is that there is no heater/air conditioning of any sort. Sutherland is THE coldest place in SA and those bedrooms get no sun in the day. So by the time the evening comes it is COLD. Yes, there are electric blankets on all the beds but the air is freezing and no way to warm it. Making a fire in the lounge helped that part of the house but not the bedrooms. We had a faulty kettle and toaster and to the owners credit, as soon as i reported it, she had replacements sent over as soon as was possible. Kudos to you! Very cozy and clean place to stay. Located close to the main attractions of the town and the shops are walking distance away. The house itself is very beautiful and rustic. It includes a kitchen, washing machine, 3 bedrooms (all double beds) and two bathrooms. The place also has free wifi available if needed.
