Having made a booking and paid a month before arrival at Nenga River Lodge on the 26 December 2018. I was shocked when we arrived. I had booked for 8 people (2 units). When we arrived the bedding for the four beds was used and very filthy. My wife had to remove it from each bed wit the assistance of Khanya who works at the lodge. The bedding is a NO NO. The toilet was not flushing but broken. The sofas were torn, dirty and smelling. There were no curtains on the bathroom window, there were roaches in the cupboards and the rooms were dirty. What I saw was a BROTHEL NOT a lodge. Its not an environment where you can take your family. I felt bad and very dirty. I could not wait for sunrise. The worst thing was that I had taken my mother in law to a filthy brothel. Nenga management must stop lying to us but be honest when marketing their place. We are not fools. Worse still, their managers are very rude and I raised this with them. In the morning, a lady by the name Linda Bird called me at 6:50 am and told me that I must come and see her in the office as to why I am not happy. The funny thing is that she said "Can you come and see me now in my office?". She doesn't say "please". How can you call a Guest early in the morning to come and see you when we drove from Johannesburg to Coffee bay on the same day? The guest is NOT your pat or dog that you can call at anytime. What kind of manners and hospitality is that....
Read moreWe booked for 2 weeks this December but only stayed for a week. They insist you pay 100% of the payment before you arrive. We couldn't use our toilet because the neighbours sewerage shoots up in your toilet when they flush, there is no extraction or window in the bathroom so the fumes from the septic tank is ever present. The light switches shock you, the gas stove doesn't work and is extremely dirty, the low budget kitchen is busy rotting behind the cupboards and the smell thereof is horrible. ||There is an open kiosk 2 meters from your front door with exposed wires but the worst part of it all is the management and owners attitude. A guest of the bar was peppers sprayed one night while we were there, the ever present smell of dagga in the air at night and the questionable movement of the "ladies of the night" in and out of the establishment makes you question whether it is indeed family friendly.||We asked for a pro-rata refund for the week we couldn't stay but they laughed at us.||Stay far far away from...
Read moreUpon arrival the host was very kind to make us a lovely meal by the executive chef as everything was closed in town.| However the next morning was a different situation, upon entering to the en suite bathroom I ended up with the handle in my hand, the toilet seat was craked around and pinching when seated and to top it off there was no hot water left and had to take a cold shower. Plus the bed quality was terrible hollow in the middle and ended up with back pain in the morning sum to that there was a package of complementary goverment issued condoms next to the bed, which gives me the idea its more a motel than a family retreat. ||This situation was addressed to the ownwer and it was rudely dismissed, so we decided to pack our bags and leave requesting a refund for the days we payed in advance. It was denied and only 30% of the total amount was given back. ||PLEASE DON'T SPOIL YOUR HOLIDAY BY VISITING...
