From Nightmare to Nirvana: Moorcroft Manor’s Magic Erased My Drakensberg Disaster!
After enduring a truly horrendous stay nearby—where the only “remedy” for my aching back was some hippy-dippy crystals that left me twisted like a pretzel and questioning my life choices—Moorcroft Manor swooped in like a knight in shining armor. This boutique gem in Himeville isn’t just a hotel; it’s a soul-reviving sanctuary nestled at the foot of the majestic Drakensberg Mountains, with views so breathtaking they’ll make you forget your passport and never want to leave.
From the moment we arrived, the staff’s warmth enveloped us like a cozy fireside hug—echoing what so many rave reviews call “unmatched hospitality.” Special mention to the lovely sweet receptionist, whose genuine smile and bubbly personality made checking in feel like catching up with an old friend. She’s the heart of the place, ensuring every detail is handled with grace and making you feel instantly at home.
The scenery? Pure poetry—rolling gardens, star-studded night skies, and those epic mountain backdrops that other 5-star reviewers describe as “stunning” and “idyllic,” perfect for romantic strolls or just unwinding with a glass of wine. Our room was a dream: spacious, elegantly appointed with crisp linens, underfloor heating for those chilly evenings, and beds so plush and supportive they melted away every knot from my previous ordeal. No thin walls or outdated vibes here—just luxurious comfort that lives up to the hype of being the “best in the Southern Drakensberg.”
And the food? Oh man, prepare for a culinary adventure! Breakfasts bursting with fresh, local flavors, and dinners that are “excellent and beautifully presented,” as fellow guests put it—think gourmet dishes like succulent lamb and decadent desserts that had us savoring every bite. It’s not just meals; it’s memorable moments, whether dining al fresco with valley views or cozying up by the fire for stories and laughs.
If you’re seeking a peaceful, cozy escape with top-notch service, incredible value, and that rare blend of old-world charm and modern luxury, Moorcroft Manor is your Drakensberg must-stay. We’ve already booked our return—don’t hesitate, this place will steal your heart! 5/5 stars...

It's the only way I can describe it, no music, the staff are nonchalant, and we felt tired just being there. The menu is gorgeous, but don't be deceived, there is NO chef in the kitchen, a cook maybe, who throws ingredients together and delivers a Thursday night Mac n cheese a tired mom of 3 could do. The cherry on top for me, was when an out of town couple sat down, and were offered a totally different experience. Smiley service, complimentary bread and attentive service. I would recommend this place for a nice walk to enjoy the view and a Fanta, don't get your hopes up, especially if...
