We spent our holiday in December 2015 at Fawncastle. Worst accommodation / customer service ever. We had no electricity for 2 days (apparently some electricity cable problem : which was matter-of-fact explained to me was not their fault) with no DSTV and hot water for the 2 days (we had to seek bathing facilities elsewhere - after a 1 hour drive). When we arrived at Fawncastle we were met by an austere woman (with no smile) who showed us our room with no further comment about the itinerary at the guesthouse. I later had to go down myself to enquire about more information of what to expect from our booking at the guesthouse. By the way, after 21h00 you are on your own as there is no management/staff on the premises! The air conditioner never worked and the breakfast served is below par (there was ants in our tea which meant the urn was not washed and refilled that morning). I requested for the water to be changed. The room is in a pathetic condition and need urgent upgrading e.g. the water in the bathroom shower tap only trickles out and there is grime accumulating in all corners of the room right through to the bathroom. I reported to the lady in charge that they must have a back-up generator for the electricity problem and I was informed that they don't have a generator. I asked for compensation for the inconvenience but was offered none. Rob is a real bullshitter as he did not follow through with my complaint and gave some feeble excuse that there is a generator but it is not working (note that the manager on duty previously mentioned that they don't have a generator). I will never book with Fawncastle ever again! To those who use the service of Groupon, be weary when booking...
Read moreWe checked in to Fawncastle as a school sport group. I booked way in advance and tried to contact them on numerous occasions via email with no response. On our arrival we were greeted warmly. Our food was also good although the portions was a bit small for a group of 25 hungry kids. However everything turned sour when some conferencing people arrived. We got some dried out ribs (about 2 racks for 30 people) and some gem squash. Not nearly enough! We had to go buy more food for the kids. The next morning we got no breakfast. We tried reaching a manager to no avail. We eventually snuffed out someone in the office , which was filthy as he ate and slept in there (on a chair). He had no anwers for us and we left with a bowl of Corn Flakes each. The establishment is also definitely not 4-star graded like they advertise. I couldn't even find them on the Grading council of SA's website! There are way better places in the...
Read moreI recently had the opportunity to visit this serene and homely venue for a corporate meeting, and it was a fantastic experience. From the moment I arrived, I felt an immediate sense of relaxation – the perfect setting to unwind and focus.
The rooms are incredibly spacious, and the bathrooms are luxurious, making the entire space feel comfortable and welcoming. The dining area added a lovely touch to the overall ambiance, creating a warm and inviting atmosphere for both work and casual conversation.
The staff were extremely friendly and attentive, ensuring that everything ran smoothly during our time there.
