La Joya Conference Lodge & Wellness — Hotel in Madibeng Local Municipality

My experience at the La Joya was so underwhelming, considering the money spent, it does equate to service I expected. My partner and I were there to celebrate my birthday and were not even asked about any special events that we might be celebrating, having worked in front desk, I think it’s just expected especially from such an establishment.

Our chalet was close to the balcony where they had hosted a private event and there was so much noise, already that was unpleasant for us.

It’s winter, I had expected our AC to blow hot air, but no! The air was cold. Considering how open-spaced the chalet is, we got cold even worse. We had to call for them to bring us heaters that they searched for for close to 40 mins and yet we had to call for a follow up as no one felt the need to keep us updated.

The water became cold within a split of a second. Imagine already the AC isn’t working and now we are welcomed by an ice cold shower. How disappointing! I was very upset to say the least.

We were not given bath towels on our first night, I still don’t understand why. Only on our second night did they provide us with bath towels.

The pools are not heated, I don’t know why they are then open to the public.

There is absolutely no guest expectation service at all.

We were not given toilet paper on our second night. Lol for whatever reason that was.

Our room was dark and I wish there was more natural light coming in because even the lights didn’t make a difference.

The establishment is very beautiful and layed-back but the service was super slow with some servers being nonchalant as if they do not want to work.

We asked to sit outside and had to beg for the bare minimum of anticipatory service. We had to ask for the basic table set up because the server didn’t seem to be up for it while a table next to us was being served with the utmost attention and care. Our server disappeared and never checked on us, I had to ask a different server for cappuccino.

I don’t know if it was because we looked young that we got service that was below the par from the time we checked in, but service is in the small details and that alone made our experience underwhelming.

I recently celebrated my birthday with a 1-night stay at La Joya Lodge, and it was an absolute dream come true! From the moment we arrived, the warm and welcoming staff made us feel special.

Whooo where do I start about this place, the beginning is usually the best😅. I recently celebrated my birthday and thought La Joya would be the best place. Neatly tucked in the Haarties is this gem. My husband booked a spa treatment for me as well as lunch at the restaurant. Our highlight on our visit was the restaurant, where we met Nox who was our waitress for the day. What a lovely person she was, a people's person who served us with a smile and humility. She went out of her way to make us feel comfortable and welcomed, kudos to Nox,Byron and all the staff for the lovely birthday cake. When I told them it was my birthday I really didn't expect anything but was pleasantly surprised when I got a succulent slice of red velvet cake. In our view,Nox should be employee of the month till end of 2025 and Byron should be manager of the year for saying I look younger than my age😂😂. We highly recommend La Joya despite the rain, we enjoyed our time at this place.
