I got to the hotel at about 17H30, They started checking me in, after checking the system the lady behind the desk tells me “sorry your Company hasn’t paid so I can’t check you in”. I’m in Mafikeng close to the Botswana border, about 4hrs drive from my home and they telling me they can’t assist.
I show them the attached voucher that clearly states “Bill back to company as per special instruction”, she takes it to the reservations manager who tells her they don’t have an account with my company so no, they can’t help I need to pay or they can't help. Nowhere did they try to phone the travel agency or any of the contact details of the voucher. The reservations manager didn't even have the decency to come out of her office to speak to me herself.
I had to eventually pay with my personal Mastercard for them to check me in and have somewhere safe to sleep. She charged me the full amount for dinner, I asked her but what if I don’t use the full amount, she replied by saying well you just have to claim it back from the company. After payment went through she starts booking me in and then mentions “oh I see they booked you for 2 DBL beds, do you need it or can I change” I was shocked and at the same time furious as she just made me pay the rate for 2 dbl beds and after payment is received now she wants to change. The room also did not have a mini fridge as per the voucher.
After a long days travelling and recruitment of staff this is the absolute last thing you want to encounter being exhausted and in an unfamiliar town.
The next day om my way back to Pretoria I get a call saying that they see I paid for myself and that wasn't necessary at all, I need to come back and fetch my money!!!
Pathetic service by staff with no customer satisfaction orientated mindset.
Never staying at that...

Read moreFor a 4 star Hotel its kind of disappointing to say the least.
The negatives in my experience: The aircon doesn't work, 2 staff members insured me that it works but then not even they can get it working (Found that rather amusing) and its not fun sleeping in this heat with mosquitos buzzing all around you Some lights in the room didnt work, main lights worked however The Phone didn't work, couldn't call room service or reception. The security safe in the closet doesn't work, had to use a padlock to keep my bags safe. Toilet keeps on running none stop, F_cking irritating, had to stop it by turning off the water inlet tap No bar fridge in rooms Gave me an Wifi Voucher, my work is very IT based, but for the life of me I couldn't get the "Wifi" to work. And lastly, there's something in the ceiling, maybe its rats or maybe its birds, I dont know. But you can hear something moving in there. House keeping knocks once and then just walks in
On a more positive note: The food was pretty good. A "pleasing to the eye" hotel (it's kind of modern/pretty) I only had to endure one night.
To sum it up, after this first impression I definitely wont be returning. Will look for a guest house or something next time.
(And yes the food is the only reason it didn't get 1 star, I took videos as well of the safe, aircon and light not working but google reviews doesn't want to upload it tonight, maybe because I'm...
