Mark's Camp - Lalibela Game Reserve — Hotel in Makana Local Municipality

I made a booking via booking.com, with free cancellation and have unfortunately needed to cancel. This has been far from simple. After making the cancellation I was contacted by the property to tell me they would be they would send me my refund minus 5%, which is not adhering to the booking terms. Further to that I was told the booking would not be refunded until a manager had return to work a week later. This self imposed date has been and gone. I am still awaiting a refund.

Prior to cancellation I made enquires regarding babysitting whilst on game drives. Before booking I was informed the service would free during game drives, but then after the booking I was told there was a cost. After sending copies of the original correspondence I was then told babysitting was free again.

My experience of the booking team at Marks Camp has been been poor, and not the service I would expect. I have booked many stays across South Africa, and never had such a bad experience. I hope they are able to sort my refund urgently and to re-evaluate their booking and cancellation process, so that it works well for...

We stayed at Marks Camp for 3 days as last stop during our SA trip. And it was a great end of the vacation. Such a cosy place, with so many nice people around. All of the staff is lovely, helpful and friendly and it’s so good managed by Michelle. The food (and there is a lot of it every day) is prepared freshly and very tasteful. And the big table where all guests take place during the meal is a great idea, immediately you are in great talks to all others. As it’s a family lodge, mainly families are here and the kids are taken care of not only during dinner, but also during the kids entertainment between the drives. Finally not to forget the Rangers and the Drives. Actually all amazing (even when it is rainy). We saw so many animals and had such a great time during the drives with the Ranger Liezel and the other family on the jeep. Thanks to the team for this great experience. We highly recommend that Lodge and game reserve to all families with kids...

We were pleasantly surprised at the sightings (Lion, Giraffe, Rhino, Elephant, Hippo, Buffalo, Wildebeest, and more!)

It’s great for kids as well and the staff are super helpful; they even left us a hand-written card for our special celebration 🍾
