Muunga Bush Lodge & Spa — Hotel in Maruleng Local Municipality

I booked an overnight stay at Muunga Bush Lodge with my girlfriend 2 weeks ago. The intention was to crash there before heading out on Safari the next day. Little did we know that it would be one of the biggest highlights of our 2-week break in South Africa.|Ruan picked us up from Hoedspruit airport and took us on a shortcut to the lodge through areas packed with wildlife - we saw giraffes crossing the road, zebras and loads of antelope! |From the moment we arrived we were made to feel really welcome by both Ruan and his wife. I can't overstate how awesome this couple is. So friendly. They gave us loads of useful tips for the rest of our time in South Africa that really set us up for an incredible holiday. When we left, Ruan even took us on a drive through town and waited with us whilst we got our SIM cards sorted - It was like nothing was too much trouble for them. |The food cooked by an onsite chef was unbelievable. I'm vegan, my girlfriend isn't and we were both blown away by the quality of the food, both for dinner and breakfast the following morning. South Africa has a lot of incredible food and these were still 2 of the best meals of the holiday. In the evening a few bush babies came down the tree outside (see picture) to eat bananas Ruan left out - super cute!|It's telling of how awesome this 24h stay was that I have said so much and not yet mentioned the lodge itself. |The lodge is out of this world. I felt like I was in a 5 star resort but much more private. The room and bathroom were very spacious and modern but still comfortable and homely. There's a beautiful, relaxing pool area with plenty of wildlife nearby. Just behind the pool is a fence from where we saw a warthog, several types of antelope and many exotic birds. I can't fully do Muunga Bush Lodge or the incredible hosts justice with words... or even pictures for that matter. I wish only that we'd stayed for longer. My recommendation - go there, and give yourself at least a few days or like us,...

We stayed at the Muunga Bush lodga for one night initially but enjoyed the atmosphere and hosts that much that we decided to stay for another night during our stay in South Africa.

Ruan and Jenny (as well as their dog Winston 😄) are one of the most welcoming and heartwarming hosts, we had the pleasure to enjoy during our holiday. Having been a guide himself and wildlife photographer, Ruan always has a good story to tell as well as advice to give for our safaris/game drives, which we really valued!

The hosts alone make the experience worthwhile, but the lodge itself is also beautiful and up to the highest standards. The rooms are clean and very modern with comfortable beds and an outdoor shower as well as an indoor bathtub. There’s also tee, coffee and cold water available in the room. There’s also a lot of animals you can spot close to your room, since the lodge is inside the wildlife estate and only has a tiny fence around it.

Ruan and Jenny also keep a great wine and gin selection and can recommend something for anyone’s taste. Jenny is a great cook, so during our stay we got to enjoy an excellent breakfast and dinner.

We also really enjoyed the gamedrive with Ruan since there is a lot of wildlife inside the wildlife estate to enjoy!

My Sister and I had an amazing time at Muunga Bush Lodge and Spa. Jenny and Ruan are such amazing hosts. We appreciate the warm and friendly welcome we received. They definitely love having people around and they make sure that they give their 100% best in taking care of their guests. What a relaxed weekend we had! The rooms are so cozy and beautiful. The environment and atmosphere is so peaceful and super clean, oooh not forgetting their delicious meals. We got at opportunity to get a massage from Muunga Spa, this was definitely one of the highlights of the getaway, the massage was the best I've ever had. It really made my stay unforgettable. We also went for a game drive. What an amazing time we had. The Ranger was very intentional in making our game drive the best. We saw almost all the animals one could think off including a Leopard, Cheetahs, Rhinos etc. It was overall an amazing getaway. The lodge and the hosts exceeded my expectations. The view is amazing when you are having your meals. The lodge is so clean and well maintained. The interior designing is out of this world. I would definitely recommend this lodge if you want to have an amazing and peaceful getaway with the assurance that you will be taken care of. I repeat, Jenny and Ruan you are the best.
