Gemstone Guesthouse Klerksdorp — Hotel in Matlosana Local Municipality

The accommodation itself was clean but this place needs a huge amount of maintenance and money spent on it. From the outside the facia boards are falling off. Our courtyard had weeds in the paving and a huge hole in the concrete about 50cm. We had to put a chair over it so we didn't fall in it. The braai grid was broken, which they obviously knew about as they provided a toasty braai grid broken into 2 pieces to place over the broken part. The bed was not the most comfortable and the kitchen cupboard doors were falling off the hinges when you opened it to look for kitchen items, of which there were very few and bad quality. They need to do an inventory and check items daily. There was a power failure after we arrived, but they only put the generator on 2 hours later (thank goodness we covered the hole in the courtyard) and they said it would be for 40 mins only as they didn't have much diesel. Surely within the 2 hours they could have bought more diesel as the petrol station is...

On a recent family visit we found a little gem (literally) hidden just off the N12 in Klerksdorp. Gemstone guesthouse's warm and friendly hospitality made us feel like we where returning guests, even though this is our first visit.

The lush green gardens invites you on pathways where you will find a play area for kids, a refreshing pool and an aviary with bunnies and small doves.

Or you can follow the staircase up to the restaurant area where you will find anything from barista style coffee with breakfast to light lunches and dinners.

Our spacious family room with wi-fi, Tv and aircon and comfortable beds, ensured a good night's rest...

I have travelled all over the country using 3 and 4 stars accomodation and it is very rare to find accomodation with good WiFi connection plus easy password to get hold of on the keys, bar fridge, microwave and TV with all sport channels.

Regarding sport, one has to first ask for channels which is very irritating for sport lovers. In other places, they do not have those channels. But you had them all which made me very excited.

Microwave was a huge bonus as we normally do not get it. In some big places, there was no bar fridge which is a problem for somebody staying longer.
