Kokerboom House — Hotel in Matzikama Local Municipality

Kokerboom has a lot of potential but fell short in a few areas. It’s a nicely decorated guesthouse in a quiet and peaceful setting, but we encountered some issues during our stay. We experienced flooding with the drain, which was quickly addressed, but there was still a lingering smell until the next day. The hostess was professional but not very warm or responsive. She showed us to our rooms but didn’t inform us about the common areas or the on-premise restaurant that serves breakfast and lunch until we explicitly asked.

However, our experience was greatly enhanced by Martin, who manages the restaurant. He was extremely helpful, warm, and accommodating, making our stay enjoyable despite the shortcomings. Wonderful stay! We stayed in room 6. The room is lovely and big. A self catering unit perfect for a family of 4 with a very comfortable king bed and sleeper double couch. It has everything you might need (air fryer included). Beautiful linen. There is an amazing main house with a large communal kitchen and multiple outside braai areas. The Deli offers delicious breakfast and lunch. We had a three course Sunday lunch that was second to no Cape Town restaurant. The best rolmops for breakfast ever. Amanda Kropman|2/5|We booked accommodation across several guesthouses in Vanrhynsdorp including Kokerboom. we also booked breakfast and packed lunches for our group of 11 people at Kokerboom deli.. very disappointingly, Christine at Kokerboom couldn’t care less and didn’t provide the breakfast or packed lunches and we were left to scramble for breakfast and packed lunches at the last minute elsewhere which was a very disruptive for our tour. Kokerboom owners do not care about their paying guests or any commitments they make and will let you down as suits them without a care in the world.
