"Beautiful" is relative. We booked in after looking on the internet and the photos looked good. Don't be fooled. We were told before booking that the new rooms "which were lovely" would be available so we paid our deposit. The "new rooms" are in a block that would not have looked out of place in 1960's Russia. There's no pathway to the block so you have to walk over the grass (which was muddy) dragging your own suitcase. We walked up a tiled stairway to be greeted with the pungent smell of disinfectant and right to the end of the passage. The list is actually endless, but there was a huge king size bed. That was the only bit of good news. One bedside table, which looked like it was a kitchen unit as it was too high, one lamp and a hole in the headboard for the plug. You couldn't get in or out of the other side of the bed as it was 6 inches away from the wall. The toilet didn't flush and when it did it didn't stop, the toilet seat fell off, the hot and cold water taps were mixed up and loose, the shower rose was blocked, the doors needed a good oiling and the sliding doors onto the balcony were coming away from the walls. Also the balcony railing was very loose. There was no-one else staying the place but they managed to put a family right next door to us and the walls are so thin we could hear EVERYTHING that went on in their room. Including their toilet habits. Breakfast is in the conference room and there are huge plug sockets sticking out all over the floor and huge round tables set with the basics. No side plates no serviettes no condiments. Just a knife and fork. The food had sat in warmers so it was steamed and soggy and no staff around so I had to keep going to the kichen. The pool looked like it needed overhauling and the so called security fence looked like it hadn't worked in a long time. We had booked in for two possibly three nights but we didn't even finish breakfast. I did say to my husband that it was like staying in an army barracks. He said that the barracks were better. I have to wonder how they managed to get 4 stars!!!!! One would be...
Read moreWe stayed in this guesthouse for 3 nights . We looked at the pictures on their internet-site and it appeard to be 5star ??? We made a reservation in a luxury room , but when we booked in we were provided with a room as in a formule 1 hotel . The room was so small that only a double bed could fit in it. The room also smelld awfull !!!! When we asked to be upgraded to a apperently a so called " Superior " room " the room was a bit bigger - two chairs could fit into this so-called " superior room " . The pool was not cleaned for a VERY long time - and the water smelled awfull !! We hat to pay R3000 xtra for the 3 nights in a superior room . In total it costed us R5000 for 3nights . We asked the lady about the beautiful pictures of the rooms as on the internet site , upon which she indicated " that must be a very old internet site of gannet place " ??? The rating of this guesthouse = 4 star ? Please review the rating - I don't think it is worthy for 2 stars . PLEASE DONT WASTE YOUR MONEY TO STAY IN THIS AWFUL...
Read moreThe linen was good and clean. This place has no atmosphere. The rooms feel like being in boarding school. The bathroom roof and shower was cover in mould. All the rooms are terribly dark with small windows that has blinds and curtains that you can not open. The garden is not cared for. I found the receptionist sleeping on the couch during the day , more than once. The outside is also in need of attention with mould on these walls too. Again one of those places that does not deserve its star rating and does not look like what the website suggests. ||I do believe that with the right help and guidance, this place has the potential to be great. But at R690.00 per person per...
