Hazyview cabanas isn't Maintained and the stuff there aren't happy. I booked the units that come with a splash pool, I get there & the splash pool isn't working and it's damaged. And you can tell its not a recent matter. So they make me pay a price of a splash pool unit only to give me a unit without a working one with no WARNING. I've added a picture of the splash pool SITUATION. There were few more units with that same issue Nonetheless I went back to reception to get me a room with what I paid for - there was no apology . As you can see the wood isn't even maintained. And also the coffee maker was broken. On our arrival we also saw the rubbish bags full outside the units. I will never again drive from Joburg to this place, I thought it would be worth it even with the long drive. The pictures are a lie, even the bigger units you can see from outside that the maintenance here is bad. It is no longer what the pictures show. Now I got there and had to be an administrator and co-ordinator of all that I had included in my package infront of my husband whom it was all supposed to be a surprise for. Between the spa, the accommodation and the restaurant why they could not run with everything- I don't know. I remember the so called romantic picnic to be had close by the river. It rained & they continued to prepare for it in that rain without checking with us what the options were since it was raining. When we eventually had the picnic as we were about to sit, I asked the waitress if the cushions had dried, without shame she said she doesn't know. The body bliss spa was the only good highlight, even though the spa stuff also lacked joy and that friendly introduction that one would get at a spa. Else our greatest enjoyment was when we were outside of hazyview cabanas. Even food wise, there's a Pub near buy that makes the yummiest food. At CABANAS everything we wanted couldn't be served cause of their own kitchen issues. The waiters and waitresses absolutely not happy, no greeting, introduction, communication, or checking on us. Maybe they like that cause they have to share their tips with each other, so even the incompetent get anyways. There was only one white guy who came the closest to good service but we didn't get his name - he was the only white waiter.

Lovely vaca a few hours away from jhb. Surrounded by mountains that often are shrouded in the morning mist. This is contrasted by a deep green of the surrounding tree line. Good facilities for the kids, whereby they can splash away in the rock pool and get some speed down the slides. Inside the spacious and upgraded units, you will find all the typical amenities and cutlery. Gas braai also there along with the traditional braai. I must admit that the lighting in the main TV and dining room is very poor. The ceiling fan in the high volume roof has an inbuilt light source, but they seriously either need to increase the lumens and/or provide an alternative light source. Additionally there should be another light above the gas braai to aid the cooker. Fridges need to be rechecked as they don't get very cold so unsure if it's just a (re)gas issue? Ample parking for the bigger units, surrounder by beautiful trees, flowering pink petals on the well maintained grounds. Approx 10 min away is Hazyview Junction where u can also stock up on any other items to make your stay even more enjoyable. Lastly, Leap adventures must seriously review their archery setup and equipment. It's really disappointing to spend so much money on this activity, to only then see a lonely single target board, paired with inferior bows and bent arrows. Be warned, else you will be wasting your money, like we did. Manager didn't bother to offer any compensation. A sour note on an otherwise brilliant stay.

I strongly don't recommend this place if you are all about the accomodation as I'm sure there are many other better places in the area. If you are there for the facilities or perhaps you have children. They will love the amenities. Here is what I didn't like about the accomodation; 1. There were cockroaches, big ones. We had to squash a few of those which is pretty unacceptable. 2. Some light switches were broken and never fixed which just made the place look tacky. 3. The paint in some of the rooms was flaking. General upkeep of the place was lacking. 4. There was a big plumbing issue in our unit and there was the constant smell of sewage. Later on during our stay everyone of us got sick and were throwing up and had running stomachs which we are certain is related to that plumbing problem. 5. They only change sheets at a cost of R100 otherwise you are stuck with the same sheets for the duration of the stay. Bare in mind we were travelling with kids :( 6. The guys at reception really struggled to fullfil our requests. The showers kept getting blocked (probably due to the plumbing issue) and we reported for 6 days in a row and this was never fixed. In summary the location is fantastic and the amenities and activities were lovely but the accomodation and service by some of the staff were a huge let down.

We were not welcomed or received by anyone when we arrived we did not have information about the activities of the place. We had to ask the lifeguard at the pool about activities in and around the place. When we arrived a few minutes later we received a noise complaint for TALKING, we were 6 six ladies TALKING, not playing music even the TV was off we were TALKING in our normal voices but security came to our unit to tell us we are making noise, the guy downstairs is complaining however the couple next to us said they don't hear anything. The rude head of security came to our unit and told us he doesn't want to hear our conversation meaning he doesn't want to hear us speak. Our Unit was not cleaned on Sunday and we did not get clean towels. When we called reception to enquire we were told we have to pay R150 for a towel and no cleaning on Sundays, mind you this goes back to the fact that we were not received and we had no information. On Sunday morning before we left to Kruger National Park we requested a gas exchange because the gas was almost finished and we struggled to cook breakfast in the morning, when we came back the gas was not changed and when we called to request they said the maintenance guy will come to the unit and he did not arrive instead the head of security arrived with the white guy from downstairs to complain about 3 girls TALKING on the balcony and it was not even 10pm it was exactly 21:30. MIND YOU ALL THIS NOISE COMPLAINTS CAME BEFORE 22:00 and the rules say no noise after 10pm and by noise they mean people talking. How can they accept bookings of groups and expect us to be quiet and not...

Had a bad experience here on the 22nd of June 2024, Chalet No. B16 with my son. Someone came to our chalet at around 9pm violently banging the sliding door leading to the living area, when we asked if we can help them, they banged the sliding door again. Asked if we can assist them, they moved to the back and started banging the bathroom window! We tried calling the reception to inform them, managed to get through on the second attempt. Security was sent up to Unit B16, very little controls put around safety, which seems compromised all of a sudden at the Hazyview Cabanas. I'm a holiday club member and have been booking holiday stays at the Hazyview Cabanas for over a decade now, I have stayed in every type of the chalet at HazyviewCabanas, it was my first time to have such a seriously bad experience! After alerting the resort management regarding our incident, they could have moved us to another unit straight away, instead I had to go to the reception the following morning to ask if we can be moved, and indicated that if this is not possible they must tell us so that we can drive back to Johannesburg. Thanks to Gabriel for his efforts, but the reception manning people are very compleisent, and uncaring. There was so much unreasonable noise from the courtyard which was not managed. We spent little time at the resort as we had excursions booked for my son's birthday. So disappointed and saddened by the experience. Maybe it's time Hazyview Cabanas review their safety standards and precautionary measures for incidents like the one we experienced. Not a great...
