Bontkop Guest House — Hotel in Melkbosstrand

Ronel and Nico accommodated us at very, very short notice and gave us the most beautiful room in the house: a corner room right on the beach with exquisite views of the sea, Table Mountain and Robben Island. We slept with the windows wide open to not miss a beat of the ocean until it started raining. Both Ronel and Nico are very friendly and accommodating and helped in every way where possible to make sure our stay was comfortable. Their house is uniquely designed, spacious and beautifully furnished. It helped that their property is adjacent to a nature reserve. We had the privilege to see pheasants and a small mongoose come to say hello while a little red falcon hovered close to the house at a safe distance from the crows during breakfast, personally prepared by Ronel and Nico.||||The rooms offer free coffee and tea and a communal area offers a fridge with a range of wines, good coffee (at a minimal fee) and a library with good books to read to read or page through.||||Bontkop Guest House is highly recommended for a relaxed stay. We were greatful to be accommodated at short notice because of a booking I made incorrectly at another property. We initially didn't mind the rather expensive rate, as I've heard that Bontkop is a lovely establishment - & it is. Its location with its magnificent view is lovely, but in terms of room stay/ quality vs rate charged, in my opinion, it’s not value for money. ||Parking is tight & unsafe – not great for what we needed accommodation for||Cold shower at night & in the morning||TV is pointless in the room as there are literally 3 channels to watch||Quality room amenities lacking||Breakfast was disappointing||The hosts are lovely & I mean no disrespect, but the rate creates an expectation of a certain quality that...

Bontkop Guesthouse is a family business and as such, satisfaction of their customers is key to their success. And they do everything for that. Not only the location is more than ideal, we are literally on the beach, with ocean view from 3 out of the 5 rooms they have, with direct view on Table Mountain, but the hosts are of such a kindness... And very well aware of the area and what to do in the surroundings. Freshly cooked breakfast every morning, at the time of your convenience. The only sounds will be from the ocean waves, all days and nights long. And if you're lucky, you may spot a whale from your window. I can only recommend.
