I took visitors from Canada and Johannesburg for lunch at the SEAFOOD LAPA in Melkbosstrand on Monday, 30 December 2019. I ate there on a few occasions during 2019 and enjoyed their seafood pizza so ordered one for us to share and a second one to take home. We also each ordered a specific dish for ourselves in addition to the pizza. When I tasted the first pizza, the dough was dry and overcooked. I brought this to the waitress’ attention who informed the manager, Charmaine. The manager then came over and was extremely rude and insulting to us. She poked her fingers in the second pizza and said it seemed fine to her. She assumed that I complained because I didn’t want to pay for the food and became argumentative. As you can imagine, this experience was extremely unpleasant for my visitors and I. We eventually paid for the food because we didn’t want the waitress to be punished by having the food bill deducted from her salary. We felt that if a manager could treat her clientele like that, we could only imagine how their waitrons are treated. But of course, we didn’t eat the pizza that the manager touched. I eventually got hold of the owner of the restaurant, Estelle, this morning on the telephone and informed her of how we were treated. The owner said she would speak to her staff to find out what happened and would call me back. The owner’s husband (co-owner I think) called me back. He apologized for our awful experience. He confirmed that the pizza base is in fact doughy because they started using a different flour. But he says the manager denies putting her fingers on our pizza. I told him that in addition to being rude and insulting, his manager is also a liar. The owner requested that I give his restaurant another try but I informed him that as long as that manager is employed there, I will not eat at his restaurant. The owner said he thinks the manager simply needs...

This place shouldn’t even receive one star… we waited 15min for a menu… waited 20mins for drinks to be ordered and then another +/- 20 mins for it to be served. We were 2 people. Had to constantly check on our drinks and had to basically wave down other waiters to assist us while our pathetic waitress, Teeshanel continued to ignore us and wait on other tables focusing on a group of overseas people(probably hungry for their tip) Listlessly she walked over to us while her phone continued to ring loudly and multiple times in her waitresses apron I asked for a glass of water with lemon which arrived so late …obviously with no lemon. I asked her for the lemon and she just never came back!!!! Even another kind waitress kept checking up on us to ask us why we are waiting so long as we gazed on other patrons that arrived way after us and received drinks and their food on time. We ordered a starter which was the snails which legit took almost an hour and as we packed up to go and just pay for our drinks at the front , Teeshanel walked over with a smirk on her face and delivered the snail starter but it tasted so horrible!!!! , she disappeared again and we just had to go to the front and ask the guy at the front for our bill and just paid and left. This restaurant wasn’t even busy so it’s totally unacceptable and we felt really discriminated against that she totally ignored us and literally waited on the overseas guests or she just done a disappearing act . Another restaurant in Melkbos that couldn’t help us first time round, saw to us when we came back and we received excellent service despite them being packed to capacity and still helping us and they received my R200 tip for the efforts made after we told them about our horrendous experience. Neverrrr again will I recommend this circus of a restaurant with...

Sunday lunch. Slow mostly non existend service. We ordered a fish and calamari combo, sushi, and chicken strips and chips. The sushi was extremely small and tasteless. The fish and calamari portion was super small. There were literally 5 small pieces of calamari on the plate with 2 small hake fillets. The calamari wasn't great, and I cooked better fish at home. The chicken strips were okay, and the best of the lot. Maybe a bonus that the sushi and fish and calamari portion were so small for the high price charged, as I am still sitting with diarrhea and nausea(Monday after). My wife, who had the sushi, also complained about stomach problems. They were out of sparkling bottled water and lemonade. Overall, it was a bad experience. Never again. Waist of hard earned money. Other basic, cheap establishments make much better food!!! DEFINITELY NOT RECOMMENDED, AND NOT WORTH THE ONE STAR. PITTY I DIDN'T TAKE ANY PHOTOS OF THE FOOD, TO POST WITH THIS...

I do not lightly rate a restaurant as a 5-star but this one deserves it! On a quiet weekday we drove past to another seafood restaurant further down the same road. We did not like the 'look' of it a decided to try Seafood Lapa which was the second on the list of suggestions from a local. Well, what can I say, excellent service and even better food and also very well priced (wine selction pricing also very reasonable). I only wish we stayed closer as this would most certainly have become a regular hangout spot, well done guys!

Being in a festive spirit after a magical holiday we wanted to end it off on a high! So on our way back south I googled restaurants for a celebratory meal. A picture of a seafood pizza, and let it be known I DO NOT like or ever order pizza, caught my eye but the review was very negative. As a 'guide' I wanted to go and see for myself! My take....WOW and WOW!! The very best is an understatement. The seafood was fresh and this pizza had a crispy thin base! My favourite dish at the moment. We will certainly be back!

Beautiful views, fresh seafood. Exactly what you need on. A Sunday afternoon. We had a sushi platter - Sushi was fresh, well prepared and delicious, the price was also very reasonable at around R90 if I remember correctly We then shared the hake, calamari and chips combo. The calamari, perfect, the fish, fresh and flakey (could use a little seasoning on the batter) other than that delicious. Slightly on the expensive side, but with open walls and unobstructed views to the Melkbos seafront I'd say it's worth it.
