Fly Fishing Paradise on Vaal — Hotel in Ngwathe Local Municipality

Worst place to go fishing! We phoned asking for fishing spots and honestly is was just so disappointing. To much rocks for fishing. Fly fishing would be better but also not worth it!

I am extremely dissatisfied with the service provided by this establishment. The lady we spoke to over the phone was very rude when we inquired about our check-in time, despite us requesting special time slots due to our long drive and perishable items that needed to be refrigerated. Upon arriving at our cabins, we discovered that people were still occupying them. We called the lady, and she spoke to my little sister in a disrespectful manner. She informed us that the check-in time is strictly 2pm with no exceptions, even said she had previously sent us an email stating that they were fully booked and unable to accommodate our requested time slot. To make matters worse, my sister had to apologize to the rude lady, only to find out that we never received her email as she claimed, and we had checked in our spam folder. We even have proof of our confirmation email stating that our special request for an 8 am to 9 am check-in was approved. On our next day waiting patiently for the shop to open no-one took any action to assist us. We stood outside while people were inside the shop, completely ignoring us. Even at 11 am, the shop was still not open, but the board clearly stated 9 am! Furthermore, the water in the cabins did not heat up at all. It took us nearly 2 hours to figure out how to connect the gas box battery in order to have hot water as it was disconnected and hanging outside the box. When we requested assistance with the hot tub, as clearly stated on multiple signs throughout the premises, we were simply told by the staff to handle it ourselves. They offered no assistance whatsoever. To make matters worse, we had to purchase our own wood at the steep price of 30 rand per bag, and the bags were not even large. Despite our efforts, the hot tubs remained disappointingly cold, even after using 8 packs of wood and 2 packs of charcoal. What a waste of resources and money! The hot tubs were the main attraction for us and the primary reason we chose this place. It is truly disheartening to see such a disappointing outcome. On our last day, we attempted to use the restaurant as indicated on the menu provided to us we called between the designated time slot of 4pm and 7pm, but received no answer or call back after calling numerous times. Instead, we received a WhatsApp message saying, "You're looking for me?" We were informed that we couldn't place an order because the shop closed at 6 pm, but at the time of the message, it was only 5:30pm. The entire experience has been incredibly displeasing. It was meant to be a memorable vacation for my sister's 21st birthday, marking her first solo trip. However, this establishment has completely marred it with its inadequate service and lack of respect. I will never endorse this place, nor will I ever suggest it to others. So here goes, my team had found this place upon my request for a fishing place semi close to home. I was so excited and happy when we found fly fishing paradise and from the pictures the place looked awsome i could not wait to visit. I had booked last year December for this year January.

I'd like to start with the good stuff first. I'm happy to report that the pictures and reality was exactly the same. We stayed in Ronan hut which the most breathtakingly beautiful river view, that we really enjoyed waking up to. We absolutely fell in love with the eco friendly wood fire hot tub and practically lived in it all weekend.

We had our own private deck and braai area. We also took the time to check out Klein Paradise which is owned by the same person and that was where we had to go to book for actitives. There was also a bar and resturant there and the manager who's also the chef was nice enough to show us around. Her food was just as delicious. I also enjoyed looking at the ponies wandering around. Back at fly fishing paradise we had access to the pool and pool tables.

Now to the nitty gritty after looking at some of the other reviews there was a certain on loop trend that I'm noticing. From personal expirance whomever is on the other end of online bookings needs to understand that they are in the business of hospitality not hostility. I'd like them to explain what the laundry free that was mentioned is for those of us who are not firmillyar with the term. I'd also like to ask that the check in and out times are specified in the contracts and not the day of. The only time allocation that was stressed was the R100 penalty on late check out before you tell guests to use their common sense . I also request that they remove the approximate arrival time on the site when booking if they do not adhere to it, the option becomes obsolete.

It sadened me that even when i requested to speak in person with whomever it was on the phone i was denied, and told i had thier number all this time and nothing can be done now. Which upon meeting in person would of avoided a review like this. And I would like to add how unprofessional it is putting guests on blast publicly on how much they spent on accommodation, which then becomes a breach of guests privacy and confidentiality unless stated by the guests themselves.

Nevertheless we enjoyed our stay and the staff that we did meet got the hospitality memo. We will be recommending this place and we will be back to visit soon. Hopefully the spa and wellness center will be opened by then.

One of my worst experiences with accommodation ever. We hired a room at airbnb, 300 km transport, to get there and find out that they double rented our room, and there was already other people there. So the proprietors, who weren't answering the phone, contact the caretaker via radio and tell us to go to a smaller room, and ask for a refund via airbnb. we're tired from the trip so we accept. in the middle of the night, after 9pm, he refuses to refund us, and he sends the caretaker there to tell us that if we want to stay in the cheaper room, he will not refund us. The next day, another family stopped by the room that we were saying that they had booked that room as well, in a different platform, because he uses multiple services but cannot manage them. He never got the courage to come tell this in person, always sending his black employees to his dirty work. We talked to all of the guests during our stay, and all of them had similar problems, some people left cursing him, some decided to stay because it is a beautiful place owned by dirty schemers. Other guests told us that he keeps his employees in semi slavery regime, living in hot metal containers, not allowing them to ever leave, paying low wages, and disrespecting the two black people take care of the entire property for a white german who fled namibia because of dirty business.When we tried to go personally to the owner, he ignored us and went into his car and fled. We are still trying to get our refund back, hundreds of rands that he literally just took from us. Beautiful place, but not worth the stress you'll have, not to mention giving money to crooks who will literally rob you. We...
