We had a truly relaxing and comfortable stay at Imvuko Safari Lodge in Marloth Park, right next to Kruger National Park. The setting was peaceful, surrounded by the beauty of the bushveld, and provided the perfect escape and a way to experience the African bushveld. The accommodation is beautifully decorated and extremely pleasant and comfortable. It was so perfect having our own boma, braai area and a big swimming pool right outside. We enjoyed the stunning, fully equipped kitchen. We love to prepare meals together, so it was a pleasure making a feast for everyone. Our host, Petrus (aka Russ) was not only welcoming, but also highly knowledgeable about the bushveld, sharing fascinating insights that enriched our experience. One evening, he cooked us a delicious potjiekos and joined us around the fire. He shared fascinating stories about the bush, animal behaviour, bird calls, and the ecosystems around us. His passion for the area was clear and made our stay even more special. He helped us identify night sounds: a white-faced owl, hippos in the river, elephants trumpeting, and in the early morning hours, a leopard grunting at a distance. It was an unforgettable, beautiful evening, filled with the magic of the wild. Another highlight of our stay was the Zebras and various buck that came right up to the house, so we could feed them lucerne pellets we obtained from the local shop. If you’re looking for a place that combines comfort, nature, and warm hospitality, Imvuko Safari Lodge is a wonderful destination we can highly recommend. Werner & Alet

We’ve visited many cities and forests in different countries, but nothing compares to the bush on the border of Kruger Park. The wildlife, the space, the energy—it’s truly unique and unforgettable. Russ's knowledge of the bush is amazing. He is knowledgeable and kind. His staff are friendly and his guides top notch. The lodge is modern, eco friendly, and with stunning African art, all for sale. This experience touched our hearts and changed the way we see the world. We made friends for life and carry these memories with us always. We are actively promoting his business in Russia. Especially now that he include Overland Safaris to 8 countries in Africa. My wife and I are awaiting our first child, but as soon as we can, we will join an overland adventure!

We had an unpleasant stay at this lodge. We arrived to a filthy house and had to pay out of our pockets to get it cleaned the following morning. The listing on Airbnb stated that the whole house was available for booking and it accommodates 11 guests yet the host wanted to charge us an additional 4k to book across the street and stated that the booking was not for the entire house. The host lives in one of the rooms in the house and wanted to stay in it for duration of our stay which is unacceptable. There was no WiFi during the duration of our stay, the electricity went off on Friday night and the host did not assist us after we tried contacting him and the entire house from the bedrooms, to the outside area, the kitchen and living room

A Truly Unforgettable Stay at the Edge of the Kruger

From the moment I arrived at the lodge, I knew this was going to be something special. I had booked as a single traveler, but soon found that what awaited me was far more than just a comfortable room—it was an experience that touched the heart.

Russ, my host, welcomed me with such warmth that I instantly felt at home. On my very first evening, I asked him to stay at the lodge and spend the time with me—and I’m so glad he did. Our evenings quickly turned into late-night conversations under the African sky, sharing stories, laughter, and insights about life and nature. Every night we had a braai (barbecue), and one evening Russ treated me to his delicious homemade bean soup, which I will never forget.

The location is simply extraordinary. The lodge sits just about 60 meters from the Kruger Park fence, giving uninterrupted, breathtaking views into the wild. We went on stunning walks and were rewarded with incredible sightings—buffalo, hippo, elephant, giraffe, and even a tiny chameleon crossing our path. Each encounter felt magical, and Russ’s deep knowledge of the bush made every moment richer. I learned so much about the wildlife, plants, and the rhythms of the African wilderness.

The lodge itself is modern, spotless, and full of character. The staff are genuinely friendly and go out of their way to make you feel welcome. One of my favorite moments was simply sitting by the swimming pool, gazing out into the bush, listening to the sounds of the wild drifting in from the park. The atmosphere is tranquil yet alive, a perfect balance that’s hard to find.

Russ is not just a host—he’s a storyteller, a nature guide, and a friend. This place is a gem, and I will definitely be telling my family and friends about it. I know I’ll be back, because some experiences are simply too good not to repeat.

If you’re looking for modern comfort, friendly hospitality, and the raw beauty of Africa right at your doorstep, this is the place to...

The listing is an entire house but 2 hours upon our arrival, we were contacted by the supposed host that we only have 3 rooms, upon our arrival the supposed host told us many excused that were not privy to us as we had booked and payed based on the listing on airbnb, the supposed host stated the price you pay is you booking per room of the house and not actually the entire house as the upstairs bedroom had bats but when he showed us, it looked as someone had been living on the property for some time, the supposed host gave us many excuses as to why we can't get the 4th bedroom and try to charge us R8000 more even though we payed for the entire house already, the supposed host stated his son is the one who did the listing and handled the booking and is now abroad and not in good terms with the supposed host, the supposed host is living in the house and wanted to sleep in the 4th bedroom as well as the bins were full of rubbish, the kitchen was dirty-sink with dished, glasses and pans- 4th upstairs bedroom dirty and linen dirty, they didn't stipulate remind us the house is off the grid and relies on solar power only therefor the air conditioners will finish the solar power quickly and we are in the dark whilst unable to get a hold of the host. We had a random drunk man tress passing the property and tried to get us to unlock and go out side to "scan" something and we called security who arrived in ample time and notified us they don't know the name or picture of the host, they also notified us the house is not covered under their security company and can't stay for long. We had to adjust and stay in a filthy environment with no safety and no electricity, which is not ideal for young women, the host is a careless person who will leave you to fend for yourselves in the most preposterous and...
