We stayed at Mjejane bush camp over December. The air con in the bedroom was not working and blowing out hot air when set on 17 degrees. We reported this on the Saturday afternoon, a day after our arrival, and were told that they would get back to us, or it would be fixed on Sunday. We went out for the day on Sunday and when we came back, the air con was still not fixed. We phoned again on Monday, whereafter maintenance checked and found that the air con needed to be re gassed. He said that he needed to get technical support to do this. We went to reception on Monday afternoon just before their closing time where they informed us that the air con had been been fixed and that they just had to check the invoice. This came as a surprise, as we did not see anybody after the maintenance guy. Tuesday was Christmas Day. While out on Wednesday we phoned reception again where they explained that the temperature is very high outside and that the air con might be on the incorrect setting. When we got back to the chalet, the room’s air con was switched on, and the door closed, but it was still not working! On Thursday, one of the cleaning staff asked us whether the air con was fixed, as she cannot feel it. She told us that they came to the room the previous day. They told her that we did not know how to set the air con. They also had previous complaints about that air con not working. I have a big problem in the way we were treated at this so called five star lodge. How on earth is it possible that a setting is wrong when the air con in the living area is working perfectly? When you stand in front of the unit it blows out HOT air. We understand that a smaller unit will cool a room down much slower than a bigger unit, but you treated us as if we are idiots? We would much rather have appreciated it if you told us if you could not get anybody to fix it and maybe try to make another plan. Pathetic service in that regard. The dishwasher was also not working. As the room gets cleaned every day, that was not too much of a hassle. The cleanliness, especially considering the rooms are cleaned every day, also needs some attention. The blinds are not dusted and dust was heaping up in the corners of the rooms. The friendliness of the game drivers and the cleaning staff...
Read moreWe stayed here for 4 nights in Thula Sana Lodge. It has plenty of space for parking. I wouldn't say this particular property is wheelchair accessible due to a couple of stairs leading to the property. This lodge is big and has 4 large double bedrooms and also provides a cot for an infant. It has a great games room upstairs with a pool table, an assortment of games with a balcony overlooking the reserve. This property also has an outdoor pool, which is a good size but wasn't the warmest. They have plenty of outdoor seating, a bbq, and a fire area, but a tree over hangs the pit and doesn't look particularly safe. They have plenty of storage and equipment in the property, especially in the kitchen. All of the cutelry and cooking gear is spread through so many different cupboards and draws it's hard to remember where anything is. They have a microwave, oven with hob and also induction hob. The utility has a dishwasher and a washing machine, but most cleaning and washing is done by the maid. Each room has an indoor and outdoor shower, which makes you feel at one with nature while keeping all private parts hidden. They also have a shop on site for souvenirs or basic food needs. Although they claim to have the big 5 here, we found out that some of the animals do cross the river over to kruger, including lion and leopard. So you are not garuteed to see them here. They have a lot of rhino and elephants. There are speed limits on the drives with cameras, and you will be prosecuted for going over the limit. They have a booklet in the lodge that explains all the fines you can revieve this includes road kill and feeding the animals, so please obey...
Read moreA great timeshare destination in the bush. Our 4 bedroom unit was very spacious with a good river view. The splash pool was also a great addition. Only complaint from the unit itself would be that one bathroom had a horrible stench coming from the drains every single day. The staff were very quick to react to the problem and tried their best to fix it - but the smell did make our stay unpleasant the whole week. Also had clogged shower drains. We complained via email to an “Angela” about the issue and she still hasn’t replied us. The 2 main bedrooms’ (river facing) curtains were VERY dirty and had brown stains on them from bottom to top.
Besides some maintenance issues - the staff on site were very friendly and did not hesitate to help us. We also did not get fresh towels (only once during our full week stay) which was odd, because at other resorts of this class you’d get fresh towels every morning free of charge?
Lastly: ⚡️Loadshedding - we were thankful for their generator; but they have a schedule for when they put their generator on, and sometimes don’t during loadshedding. It was extremely irritating not having an aircon and fridge on in the middle of the day in 40°C weather at a “5 star” resort. They offered to put the generator on every time in the day/night during loadshedding for visitors to pay an additional R80-R100 DIESEL LEVY PER DAY...
