We, my two daughters, an eight month old baby, and I, arrived, overtired, late afternoon at Champagne Castle Hotel. We arrived from Australia and Cape Town. The road journey from OR Tambo was hours long but uneventful. However, once we entered the gates of Champagne Castle Hotel, we stepped into an oasis of breathtaking mountain splendor and luxurious and most comfortable accommodation. Frankly, one forgets about the discomfort of thousands of travel kilometers when one arrives at the hotel with it's splendid luxury garden apartments. The rooms are spacious, artfully decorated with high quality furnture and artwork depecting the local fauna and flora. We found our roomd spotlessly clean, the linnen crisp and fresh, ample hot water and thé most comfortable beds to lay down a travel tired head. The daily, buffet breakfasts, lunches and dinners are of thé highest standard with a vast array of delectable dishes on offer! For children there are hours and hours of amusment with ducks, bunny rabbits and a billy goat. Green cabbage leaves and carrots are provided every afternoon around 15h00, affording the young visitors the opportunity to hand feed the bunny rabbits. Horse riding is available for the young. Guided walks from the hotel premises are free of charge. The hotel boasts a 'Wellness Centre providing an opportunity to indulge in some pampering eg massage, skin and grooming treatments. This establishment must be one of thé accommodation jewels in the Drakensberg range. It's a pity Australia and Cape Town is so far-far away, but we might, one day, be blessed by being able to return to this breathtakingly beautiful venue in KZN, South Africa . I highly recommend this hotel for the natural beauty of the Drakensberg range, for its fine cuisine, its superb accommodation and thé most efficient staff.

Stayed here for 5 nights as a couple along with my daughter and her boyfriend in 2 separate rooms with mountain views. Firstly the good things... The views are perfect recipe to chill, relaxing around the pool with the mountains in the background is an amazing place to wind down and relax. The Crystal Falls walk is just over 3 miles but well worth it. Most of the staff are friendly and willing to help deliver the services to make your stay more enjoyable. The bad things: When we checked in, reception siad the porters would carry our luggage and show us to the rooms. The porters never showed up and we had to find our rooms ourselves, and carry the luggage. Some of the staff did not hide the fact that they did not want to be there, not smiling or welcoming you to the eating area. Our room, photo below, had water stains and mold - not something you'd expect from a 4 star hotel with such loved heritage. Light bulbs not working and the staff not cleaning the room / restocking the shower gel/soap etc. The recreation room, where there is a pool table and table tennis game, all in significant disrepair, holes in table and pool cues broken. Overall, great place to stay, but don't delude yourself that this is a 4 star hotel... 3 star slipping to 2 star is where this hotel currently sits, but with a 4 star price tag.

Initial review after arriving today Staff is very friendly. Rooms are spacious and well equipped and clean. Food is exceptionally good at supper. More to follow later As promised a little more info and a review. Firstly the setting is perfect!! The views of Champagne Castle and Cathedral Peak are magnificent After having stayed there for 5 days I can recommend the hotel. Food was very good, rooms spacious and service good. The buffet menu for all meals is full of variety and very decent but after 4 days I must admit it got less exciting. The staff although friendly seemed to just go about their business of being friendly and I started getting the feeling it was just because they were trained to do so and it became insincere. There were one or two issues handled well by George the GM but although I recommend the hotel it does not get 5 stars because of the above. It just does not have that "I have to come back" family holiday feel to it.

WELCOME TO DIVINE PARADISE ON EARTH 🇿🇦🇨🇦🇧🇴🇺🇸 CHAMPAGNE CASTLE HOTEL AND SPA 🌄 🌅 Once in a rare while one is blessed to come upon a property so Divine as to marvel in absolute awe at the breath taking majesty, awe and splendour of it all. Enter one and all, leave ALL IN ONE🙏☯️ Such is the GEM of Champagne Castle Hotel&Spa.

An absolutely must do,on arrival in South Africa. From any point in the world, arriving in Johannesburg or Cape Town International Airports, one rents a car and heads straight on the N2 or N3 to Champagne Castle hotel and Spa.

GARY and his team of gifted service providers of all things Excellent, were just the most amazing hosts. Gary, though in Senior Management, is forever available, literally at your beck and call. The team is congenial, friendly and super responsive and efficient. You could not ask for better hosts and just super custodians of a gorgeous (15/10🥰🇿🇦) Property.

The Vistas are awe inspiring. The majestic mountain ranges that constitute your front and back yards, are the epitomy of the tranquil and the sublime 🙏☯️☀️💥🌄🌅

The food fare, is a litany of delicious delights, from the breakfasts, lunches and dinners, to say nothing of the not to be missed dedacent home baked scones topped with fresh churned cream and home made ( yes it's all home made 😂🥰🤗)at the mid morn and mid aft tea times. All locally sourced and authentically conjured in a kitchen by culinary artists, with gifted talents, that may well make Michelen prestige, an after thought🤣 The choice of world class home and also internationally grown wines, and ice cold malts off the tap, are yours to select from and savour.

There's tennis, games and a gorgeous pool to cool off from the warmth of a tropical sun🌞.

Then, of course, the hikes in the mountains, hills and dales, speak of a tranquillity born of ancient antiquity.

You will be back for sure. You will want to shout the magic of a sublime, charming getaway from the rooftops, or maybe not, lest this "peace of paradise" be too trodden😂 Rather keep it as South Africa' best kept and secretive Hideaway.....we can only hope in quiet selfish indulgence 🤣

🇿🇦Pack your bags 🇿🇦Think no more 🇿🇦Say no more. 🇿🇦Head for the hills, nay to the silent and still giants born of pre-historic epochs of Volcanic gushing. Come hither, waste no time.

Ron and Matilda ❤️ 💙 🇨🇦🇺🇸🇿🇦🇧🇴 Ron and Matilda💙😍😍 InterAfrica International Canada/USA/South...

Champagne Castle has always been a favourite of ours and it did not let us down on this visit. We had the pleasure of staying there for three nights while over from the UK. Our deluxe room was warmly cosy and comfortable. The bathroom, while spotlessly clean, is dated however the charming, hospitable MD Georges told us that they were in the process of organising a full refurbishment of the bathrooms. It was bitterly cold on the 3 days/nights we were staying there, the mountain was very shy and hid behind a thick blanket of cloud and mist but the main lounge and pub had wonderful glowing, welcoming fires burning in the grate. On our first morning we found the ‘quiet lounge’ and although there was no fire burning we still went in to read. One of the staff members came in, saw there was no fire and immediately offered to light one for us. Thereafter there was a warm welcoming fire waiting to greet us each morning. Unfortunately I didn’t get his name but thank you for your thoughtful service. The food was scrumptious and varied and although we vowed each meal time to ‘only take a little taste’ we left the dining room more than very comfortably satisfied having no willpower to refuse the delights on offer. Mohamed made our meal times a double joy with his friendly, beaming and cheerful smile, and nothing was too much attitude – his omelettes are out of this world delicious. Sithembiso the barman had the most delightful demeanour. He face just lights up with a huge grin when serving customers. Vaughan who seems to oversee the efficient running of the hotel quietly ensures all guests are well catered for and was always quietly in the background should you need assistance. Sadly this will be our last visit to my spiritual home in the Berg but I wish the management, staff and all connected with this gem of a place to stay continued success...
