Gooderson Monks Cowl Golf Resort — Hotel in Okhahlamba Local Municipality

I wish I could give this place more than 5 stars! I've never stayed in such a warm and welcoming place in all my travels.

From before even arriving to the resort, our requests that were sent to management regarding our dietary requirements and other needs were responded to promptly.

I had an accident a few days before my trip and ended up in crutches. We were contemplating canceling the trip but decided to go ahead to just get away and take in the views. This was the best decision I've ever made, as the management and staff of Gooderson Monks Cowl went above and beyond any expectations to make my stay as comfortable as possible. I was given the closest room to the restaurant but still could not physically walk to and fro. The lovely Charmaine noticed this and offered to request a golf cart to transport me everyday, which the manager Kyle agreed without hesitation. Following this, the staff picked me up and dropped me off right at the door with a smile and the utmost concern. I can gladly say that this was a game changer for my weekend and the staff and management were literally sent by God for this. May God bless all of you and your families!

My husband wanted to play some golf, which gave me an opportunity to see the rest of the property and take in the fresh mountain air whilst sitting in the golf cart.

With regards to the food, there was a wide variety of dishes to suit every dietary requirement. I am a vegetarian and Charmaine made it her duty to check at every meal if I had enough options, even going to the extent of getting me vegetarian sausages for breakfast 🙃 As a vegetarian, I've never felt so fulfilled leaving a buffet breakfast, you guys are doing a fantastic job.

If you are considering visiting this place, it's one of the best decisions you could make. It's good to know there are such polite and hospitable humans out there. After traveling to other countries, it makes me immensely proud to know that I've received the best treatment from my fellow South Africans! I cannot wait to come back, and may the next time comprise of much more walking and hiking the beautiful...

Beautiful memories, lifetime experiences, breathe taking views. Lots of activities available and places of interest to be viewed and enjoyed. Self catering units are amazing, specially now with cold winter nights, sitting by the fire place watching the logs glow whilst lit. The fire provides that extra warmth and allowing the family to enjoy precious memories. Very clean, neat, n tidy units overlooking the lake. The new revamped lounge, dining area and Golf shop.....beautifully furnished with exquisite furniture and fittings (pics shared below) The only suggestion will be, to provide or fit the bed rooms with heaters to take away the bitter cold drafts that enters at night making more cosy. Other than that...well done, keep the exception service going. A special thanks to my favourite staff, Nakita, Nutisha, Inkosi......always will to assist with anything and everything that might be requested. They are "Gems" to your establishment and should be treasured. I always look forward dealing with them whenever I'm planning a getaway......highly recommended resort and will definitely be visiting...

Used the putt-putt course for our annual family putt-putt championship. Sadly the course was full of leaves from the storm earlier on the morning. And this is supposed to be season, so attending to detail should be evident. Still, we had fun....but had to fetch drinks from the bar. Fine for the first round, but perhaps if the staff are on point.....they just might notice a party of 8 having fun on the putt-putt course and come on down and see if the can take a second or third or fourth round of drinks.....no way......and we were the only people to be seen around....not like they were run of their feet. We then decided to have lunch. 3 hours after the storm the tables were still soaked with water, not wiped down. The service was non-existent, the food poor,....burger patties so overcooked as to be almost inedible, chicken schnitzel over cooked and dry, pizza base was not freshly baked, I won't go so far as to say warmed up.....but The chili served as a side was excellent though. No sign of manager or supervision....shows in the lack lustre attitude...
