Extremely poor service from staff.
Room Equipment and Staff Knowledge Extreme unprofessionality displayed when we complained about the ceiling fan which could not be stopped. We were shocked to be told we must use side lamps for the night as maintenance can only sort out the next day at 10am. This was despite us reminding them that we have a 15 week old baby with us and that the fan was unacceptable. The light was essential especially during the early evening period. Finally managed to sort out ourselves however the facility offered no alternative or solutions.
Room Facilities lacking No fridge availability in room. We had to use the reception fridge for storage of baby milk. Shocked to read in response comments that rooms do have fridges and that we were given a room without one despite staff knowing upfront that we have a baby with us. No communication regarding pre-arrangements for fridges was noted.
Poor attitude of Anel We have a complaint about Anel who displayed extreme disregard for my daughter and I during breakfast. We were originally seated in a section where there is a view and she was rude, abrupt and screamed at us to move to a table at the side of the facility which was not even setup with cutlery. We were aware that there is function in 2,5 hours however we followed the instruction from reception and arrived at breakfast early and in our designated 7am to 8am slot. We were not aware that paying guests were not going to be allowed to enjoy the view which for reference was the only reason we booked at the hotel. For 2 people in the entire section surely the table could be cleared and sorted out prior to the function which was more than 2 hours from starting?!
I also observed that Anel was also extremely unpleasant to other people of colour at the facility and this gave us a feeling of potential prejudice and racist behavior from her end. She needs some serious training regarding tolerance, leadership and how to act like a human as it seems her marketing training was definitely insufficient in this regard!!
We gave 1 star out of 5 as despite Anel the rest of the staff treated us with dignity...
Read moreDespite the best efforts of the friendly and accommodating staff at Hoedjiesbaai Hotel – Saldanha Bay, my recent stay was deeply disappointing and marred by a multitude of issues that overshadowed any positive aspects. Upon arrival, it became immediately apparent that cleanliness was not a priority at this establishment. The carpet in our room felt sticky and grimy underfoot, indicating a severe lack of proper cleaning. This unsanitary condition extended throughout the hotel, with hallways emitting a persistent odour of urine that was not only unpleasant but also concerning. The state of the bathroom was equally disheartening. Loose tiles and a pervasive smell of mould and rotten drains made it clear that maintenance was sorely lacking. It was difficult to use the facilities comfortably under such conditions. Noise levels were intolerable throughout our stay, the constant disruptions from neighbouring guests made it nearly impossible to rest or relax. Furthermore, the bed in our room was old and worn-out, squeaking loudly with every movement, and the mattress offered minimal comfort, reflecting the outdated nature of the hotel's furnishings. Adding to our discomfort, guests on the second floor showed a complete lack of consideration. They routinely dropped cigarette butts, ash, and matches from their balconies onto our vehicle parked below, causing both annoyance and potential damage. Given the cumulative issues we encountered, we made the decision to cut our stay short and depart a day early. I have attached a photo of my socks after walking on the room's carpet, clearly illustrating the poor state of cleanliness that persisted throughout our room. The overall condition of Hoedjiesbaai Hotel – Saldanha Bay left much to be desired. This experience was wholly unsatisfactory. Prospective guests should exercise caution and consider these factors carefully before booking a stay at Hoedjiesbaai Hotel –...
Read moreThe first impression on arrival is that the parking area has limited spaces. The entrance is small, and the front desk staff are very friendly. Checking in was kinda quick , and we were given our key. No help with luggage, but we didn't have much so we could manage.
My first impression of the room, however, was not wow, but okay, let me look for the positives. It had a tiny double bed with an even tinier TV. Bed was comfy enough. There was no fridge in the room, but there was a kettle with 2 mugs, tea & coffee sachets, and an iron that wasn't cleaned, so i could not use it. One seat and one chair on the deck for a couple's room so you can't really sit together comfortably. No aircon, there was a ceiling fan that made the most noise. However, the sliding door opened made up for it.
Room 32 is definitely not the room you want! Locking the door requires a bit of effort, but unlocking is easy. It is situated directly below the kitchen. Loud voices, utensils falling, baking trays, or metal trays hitting the floor with a bang, you can literally hear them washing the dishes very early in the morning! Wifi is an issue. it keeps kicking you out and disconnecting. Bathrooms are outdated, but that's okay. The shower, however, is not cleaned thoroughly. I requested a room change, but they would not accommodate us.
What made the stay pleasant was the view, and most of the staff. The cleaning supervisor was probably having a bad day when I asked for coffee sachets. I was told you only allowed 2 per day , but we didn't get any on the 2nd day, which is why I asked.
The sunsets and sunrises are spectacular!! The normal staff are friendly and helpful with enormous smiles on their faces! Thank you for making my stay...
