Mooring House Guest House — Hotel in Somerset West

My wife and I were invited by friends to accompany them on a holiday to Cape Town. Our friends have visited every year for the past 14 years and have stayed in the same guest house The Moorings, run by Miriam and Gary Yates. All I can say it more than lived up to their high praise. Although the accommodation is more than adequate, it isn’t five star but it is more than great value for the price we paid. The owners more than made us welcome and were superb hosts. Nothing was too much trouble and joined us and contributed to many B.B.Qs during our stay. Owing to the current level of water in the Western Cape water consumption is severely rationed and some decidedly water saving procedures are in place but it didn’t detract from our fantastic stay at the moorings. Just back in Ireland after out fifth trip to Garry and Miriam at their lovely home in Somerset West , South Africa. As ever our apartment was spectacular , just the right size for our needs , with a table and chairs outside to facilitate open air , private dining. The garden is overflowing with colourful fragrant flowers and shrubs , with a swimming pool for the energetic and a Braii for the hungry. Garrys assistance and guidance in selecting Golf courses was superb as ever. Both he and Miriam selected great wineries for wine tasting and restaurants for dining. Their hospitality knows no bounds,and their energy and enthusiasm to ensure everyone has the perfect holiday is unmatched. We can't wait to return for another fun filled holiday on...

We returned here after two years and were so lucky to find an appartment with two rooms . The very friendly owner remembered us and did his best to keep this room for us. The plae was gorgeous as we knew. With its charming garden with swimming pool and nice views. The room was very good too and the service exellent. The place is quiet and you can reach Stellenbosch very easy from there, were you can have fantstic dinner evrywhere. Also the splendid waterkloof restaurant is very near as is Somerset. A very good place to stay also for several days or even weeks. We should keep it a secret but that would not be friendly...
