STABLES The marketing material for Moolmanshof doesn’t provide details about the self-catering units. It’s nothing like the main B&B house. This is what you need to know. The Stables units are budget to midrange accommodation, modern low-cost styling. ⭐️Stables: Unit 1** The family room is OK for a family of 4, the kitchenette is small but OK, but the bathroom is pokey with a small dark shower. The patio is pretty. The 1990’s TV has some DSTV channels. The wifi can connect from the patio, but the signal is weak indoors as the router is in unit 3. The garden is a lovely wild place to explore. ⭐️Stables: Unit 2** Don’t book the twin bed unit if you haven’t booked one of the other two units as well. Unit 2 is only accessible via unit 1 or 3. Unit 2 is the worst of the three. It’s small, with two wingbacks squeezed in with an old TV. The kitchenette is small but OK, the bathroom has a shower. The patio is pretty. ⭐️Stables: Unit 3** The double-bed unit is the prettiest of the three Stables units. The bathroom is roomy with both a bath and shower. The kitchenette is small with a little table squeezed in. The patio is sad, but is connected to the patios of the other two units which are more leafy. There are no internal stairs, with one front door step. ✖️But it is *not* wheelchair friendly (none of the units are, even though I specifically asked and was assured it was fine!) The outside doors have several locks with a ridiculous steel bar across the kitchen door, so it does not feel secure. It’s OK for a quick stopover. There isn’t proper parking, you have to stop on the lawn. It doesn’t feel very safe; the outside doors have several locks (at least 2 visibly damaged), guests have to activate the night alarms themselves, and there is no fencing for the property. Arriving was very unwelcoming as we had to struggle with all the locks and keys. I would recommend the owners/manager consider more honest marketing material, perhaps separating the B&B and the Stables, in order to avoid disappointment and more bad reviews from guests who expected something else.

We had n lovely stay at Moolmanshof. Thank you Tan Lizzete for the personal tour in the old house and garden. The old painting on the wall is fantastic. And also thank you for the personal hand written welcome letter. We will be back.

What a special pretty place to stay. Our hostess was amazing and the rooms beautifully fitted out. The history of this wonderful building is so interesting. Loved my stay.

Very nice personal touch, there were pots of flowers in the room from the beautiful gardens around the house, beautiful antiques and probably the oldest house in Swellendam...so glad we could experience this unique guesthouse and hospitality ......
