What a gorgeously unique venue! Our room (The Verdi) was beautifully furnished with genuine antiques. Stunning views over the garden. Super comfy bed too.
We were lucky to see the other rooms too, and they're all equally as sumptuously furnished. The stand out for something really different is the Ruby Room. It felt so exotic with the plunge pool featured as part of the room. Words really can't do it justice.
Then the rest of the castle is not only filled with antiques, it also has amazing artwork on show all over. The main hall is just RIPE for a banquet! Would LOVE to hold a function there one day!
And then our hosts, Manie and Jack - nothing is too much trouble for them. Plus the food, 4 course dinners, simply superb. And breakfasts, not just your bog standard eggs and bacon, each morning we were served something slightly different, beautifully presented and absolutely delicious.
A great location to explore the Blyde River Canyon scenic spots too.
We stayed two nights, but it would have been lovely to have stayed a bit longer. Next...
Read moreSuch an interesting place to stay. Our hosts were amazing in every way and seemed to enjoy the experience as much as we all did. They gave an entertaining historical tour and made the delicious food with attention to detail down to even the special way the eggs are prepared in an omelette. We were lucky to experience horrible cold, rainy, and foggy weather which made the courtyard magical. The weather cleared on the second day which offered fantastic views. Everything used to build the castle is old and has meaning which adds to the flair…Wi-Fi is available but unplugging let’s you soak it in…particularly in the unique hot tub which offers a bit of an anatomy lesson. Enjoy the natural wood fire and a kings table for dinner then head up to the roof for some...
